He First Loved Us

It’s Not That We Love God But He Loved Us First

~ “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 “We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

So many times we get in the mode of thinking, “why can’t I love others as God loves me?” And the reason we get into that mode of thinking is because of the flesh. And Satan stirs up the flesh in all of us. But here is the thing to remember if you are truly in Christ Jesus, is that Jesus lives in you, and through the Holy Spirit He does love that other person as Christ Jesus loves. We need to step back and realize that this flesh will always rear its ugly head, but then point out to ourselves that the Holy Spirit lives in us, and the Spirit does indeed love the other person as God loves us.

God Doesn’t Tempt Anyone, Nor Can God be Tempted!

~ “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:” James 1:13

~ We blame God for so many things in the world today instead of putting the blame on where it should be, on the evil one. Satan even has the Christian world blaming God on the fall and even the creation of the world, as though God didn’t do his job properly. Let’s start with the basics. It’s so important for us to understand that God cannot be tempted, nor does God tempt anyone. God created us with a freewill and the ability to choose. Some people get into the mode of thinking that because God foreknew what was going to happen in the Garden of Eden and with everything else, they then place the blame on God for all the wrongs and evil in the world. But here is the thing, we are not God, we are not all knowing as God is. His foreknowledge is for God and Him alone. Follow Jesus to The Cross and Resurrection

Synopsis

People often ask questions from scripture, and get focused on a word or two in a translation that gets them confused. The key is you hold onto truth in scripture you know are true, and do not let less clear scripture conflict with what you know is true. For if you are in Christ Jesus, you know the gospel you have come to understand and have believed in. Instead, it usually means you need to check it out with another translation and also read more of the passage in its entire context.

An example of that is the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10. Is it really about judgment, as if we are going to be judged, or punished by God, for the bad things we have done in our flesh? No. God already dealt with sin once and for all when He shed His blood on a cross. The gospel has made that clear, where other scriptures clearly reveal that, as in Hebrews, where Jesus promised us that He remembers our sins no more and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Let us learn about laying a solid foundation of Christ Jesus living in you. You must start with and continue on with gaining a deeper understanding of Christ, who is your life. It is not only going to be a foundation of what your hope of glory is, but it will be a foundation for you for subjects like predestination and election, which was discussed last week. It is a foundation in which to live in all godliness, which is by faith.

With any foundation, if your premise is off, then everything else will be off. Without a proper understanding of these things, without a foundation, you really cannot understand the scriptures correctly, they make no sense, and you are tossed to and fro by every wind of teaching. So we looked at Pentecost and how Christ is the head of the body, the church, the Ekklesia, made up of both born again Jews and born again Gentiles. So you have a place to start and build on, to form a solid foundation. Synopsis

Many times callers call into the Classic Christianity radio to get answers to common questions, get clarifications or Bob’s thoughts on things they have heard from others, things that just does not sound right or the practical application of living in the new life you have in Christ Jesus. Many times, when you have a basic foundation in truth, these questions can easily be answered. If you know that you are under a New Covenant system of grace and not under the Old Covenant or law, and you know what salvation is, and what Jesus accomplished for you by his death, burial and resurrection, most of these questions can be answered.
