Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 16 (05-06-19)

Bob continues in the gospel of John, where he left off in chapter 4. He summarizes Jesus encounter with the Samaritan woman as an introduction to the topic of evangelism and starts up again where Jesus reconnects with his disciples, telling them the fields are ripe for harvest. Evangelism is reaching out in love with the truth of the gospel message. The gospel message is all about what Jesus came to earth to do and did. As believers, we share the same gospel of good news we believed and received, which is the same gospel that the apostle Paul preached. We long to share that message with others. Bob George explains what the gospel message is beginning with 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and several other scriptures. In one sentence, the gospel is a message of how man is saved from the consequences of sin, the wages of sin, which is death by the gift of God, which is eternal life. He explains the reason he wrote the “Born Free” gospel booklet in the order it is in. Bob received calls of encouragement for him to keep up the good work he is doing, speaking truth into the hearts of men. One caller accepted the gift of eternal life while listening to Bob explain the gospel message. Bob encouraged him to study the bible to know the truth and left him materials to help him grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, material that is designed to be read alongside the scriptures, so the Holy Spirit will reveal truth to men.

Bob also received a call from a listener to help sort through things he has been hearing in a bible study concerning the Lord’s supper. So many people are confused about the Lord’s supper, and are even scared to death that they do not receive the Lord’s chastisement for fear they have partaken of the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner, being caught up in introspection over sin. Bob George answers questions commonly asked. “Have I committed the unpardonable sin?” “Is there a sin I commit that God will say He has had it with me?” “Do I have to keep asking God for forgiveness of sin?” When a person asks such questions, the person is either not born again or does not have a firm grasp on truth. The only person who really knows he is born again is the person himself, for the Spirit of God will testify within him that he is a child of God. He who has the Son has the life and who does not have the son does not have the life. If a person is believing a lie, then he is living as if he is still spiritually dead, and not in the joy of the Lord. A child of God is living under the grace of a loving heavenly Father who has already taken away the sins of the world, not counting your sins against you. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 14 (04-30-19)

Bob George shared from John chapter 4 on Jesus encounter with a Samaritan woman. The Jews hated the Samaritans and the Samaritans hated the Jews. It was not customary for a Jew to even go through Samaria let alone talk to a Samaritan. But Jesus would meet with a Samaritan woman. After talking about living water, she asked Jesus to give her this living water. Jesus told to her to get her husband and come back. When she said she had no husband, Jesus told her she has had five husbands and the man she is living with now is not her husband.

John 4:19-20
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

She said to Jesus, “You are a prophet for how could you know these things. Then, being ashamed, changed the subject. We, Samaritans, worship on this mountain called Mount Gerizim. Yet, you Jews worship on Jerusalem. The Spirit of Jesus Christ

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 13 (04-29-19)

Bob George explains from the book of John what it means to be born again. When you are born again, scripture tells us that Spirit of God comes to live in you. In Romans, you read that without the Spirit of God you do not belong to Him.

Romans 8:9
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

You cannot be born again unless born of the Spirit.

John 3:34
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.

Jesus came to this earth, as God in the flesh, totally emptying himself of his divine attributes in order to show us what full dependence on the holy Spirit as a man looks like. Still fully God, Jesus came to speak the words of God.

Bob George TeachingBob resumes the study of the gospel of John. He introduces John chapter 4, but first, he revisits John chapter 3. This is one of the most important chapters because it teaches us how to enter a brand new relationship with Christ Jesus. We not only come to him to be our Lord and Savior but also to be our teacher.

Bob shares again how man is already dead in sin, born in the nature of Adam. Man cannot give spiritual life to man because he does not have spiritual life in himself. But a man was sent from heaven to explain heavenly things to man. God sent Jesus to redeem man from the consequences of sin, which is death. Satan deceived man and man chose to believe the lie. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy but God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, not to condemn the world, but to save man through him. Man was condemned already. Man is dead and in need of life.
