Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P713 (03-03-22)

Saved by the Baptism of The Holy Spirit Not Water Baptism – You Must Repent of Your Unbelief and Believe in Christ Jesus

In today’s Classic Christianity Radio program Bob discusses baptism of the Holy Spirit vs water baptism. Only baptism by the Holy Spirit, making a person born again of the Spirit, is the only way salvation takes place. Water baptism doesn’t do anything for you except get you wet.

Another caller called in about forgiveness of sins and the fellowship issue. Fellowship is always in the fellowship saved or out of the fellowship lost.

Then there was another caller that wondered about Acts 18:24-28 in regards to being saved by baptism vs baptism of the Holy Spirit and altar calls. Bob’s answer brings additional insights on to what was happening in the book of Acts at that point in time, in that some had not even heard of baptism of the Holy Spirit. They only had heard of John the Baptist, water baptism, pointing toward the One that would take away all their sins on the cross. They were unaware of the baptism of the believer by the Holy … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is the Solution Not Pharma

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P710 (02-18-22)

Jesus is the Solution Not Pharma

On today’s program Bob answered many of the same questions a number of years ago that are still repeatedly asked today. Tithing is one of them. First off, tithing was old testament law to support the Levitical priesthood. Listen as Bob speaks with the first caller, John from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in regards to tithing. John brought some additional insights into that too, and even shared with his pastor about tithing being of the old covenant, old testament, not the new. Hebrews 7 and 12 speak of a change in the law.

Hebrews 7:12
12 For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.

The second caller,  Tommy called from Nashville, Tennessee. He had a question into being given prescription drugs for chemical imbalances of the brain. Listen in as Bob and Tommy discuss this issue. We would do well to pay particular attention to scripture on this area, especially in the book of Revelation on this one for today, where the Greek word pharmekeia is used, which by the way, is where we get the word “pharmacy” and “pharma” (drug companies) from. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P657 (08-04-21)

What About Tithing and a Second Baptism?

People who have grown up in any number of protestant churches will inevitably have heard teaching on tithing. A pastor will tell you that if you do not tithe then you are robbing God. Or a pastor will say if you tithe you will be blessed by God for riches. If you have been to some charismatic churches, you may have also heard teaching from a pastor that says you need to have a second baptism of the Spirit. Some will even say that if you do not have the evidence of speaking in tongues then you are not saved? There are people who have been to these churches and are beginning to wonder if what they are saying is true. That is why many people call into the program to get clarification on these things.

First of all, truth is found not in what some pastor says. We have the scriptures that were written down through the prophets for the Old Testament and the apostles for the New Testament. For the New Testament to be written down, they had to be written down … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Make Your Body Available to Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P654 (07-23-21)

Jesus Makes a Believer Holy and Pleasing to God for His Purpose

There are many questions believers ask still today in trying to figure out what it means to live out the Christian life, to discern truth from error, and to properly discern the meaning of the Word of God in its context. Many times believers will be sitting under a pastor who is teaching error. They know something just does not ring true, and they may even have read scriptures on their own and it just does not seem to be consistent with those scriptures they have read. Now, that pastor indeed could be teaching error, but that does not necessarily mean he is a false teacher because he teaches error. Calling a person a false teacher puts the emphasis on the teacher being a wolf in sheep’s; clothing, and that may not be the case. Nevertheless, the pastor is still teaching error and that error hinders believers under his care from growing in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. And there is error that is more serious than others. Disagreements on the timing of the rapture … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Classic Christianity and Growing in Grace

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P652 (07-16-21)

Synopsis

All of us need encouragement in this fallen world we live in. As Jesus warned us so many times, let no man deceive you. All of us have been deceived one time or another and are all subject to deception. Many of us grew up in some denomination that taught legalism and all sorts of error, or cults even, saying you have to belong to my church to be saved, and some of us came to the knowledge of the truth. We came to realize God’s word is truth, and anything contrary to that is to be rejected as from men. Not all men are deliberately deceiving you. Many are simply passing on what they heard from others.

How grateful we are for those many people, the born again believers all over the world, who have understood God’s grace, and spread that message of grace so we heard the message of truth and came to believe. The true grace teachers will teach the totality of the cross, of being made complete in Christ and salvation through receiving new life through the resurrection of Christ Jesus, who has offered all men … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Wants Your Faith to be in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P19 (07-06-21)

Synopsis

Faith is one of those words used or heard but do we know what it means? Hebrews 11 defines faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This “hope for” is not a “hope so”, but a firm trust in what God has guaranteed us in His Son. We put our trust in what God accomplished for us in Christ Jesus, in what his death, burial and resurrection accomplished for us.

But not everyone has heard or understood what Jesus accomplished for us. You can know that Jesus is God, and that he lived, died and did certain marvelous things, but you have not put your faith in what He has given you, which is eternal life. I once was asked, “Would you like to be saved?”. I had never heard such a strange question before. “Saved from what?” I knew about Jesus dying on a cross. You see a picture of that in the church I grew up in all the time. And I knew something about Jesus rising from the dead. You at least hear about that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
