Liz: I have been saved for 8 years, love the Lord with all my heart, and married for 9 years. We got married in the church but he walked away. I asked him to move.

Liz: In Ephesians it says a man is to write a note to let the wife go. That is what I have to do. (She is in great distress. You can hear anguish or tears in her voice.)

Bob: I am sure it does not say that, Liz. You are reading something that is not there.

Bob: Why are you so upset with this man in your marriage?

Liz: He does not believe the bible. He is believing his traditional way. He is gay. He is practicing homosexuality. He prefers a man than me. (She is quite emotional). I need to file for a divorce.

Synopsis

Bob answered questions by two people today. Glenn asked a simple question but really opened up to expose a more serious problem in his belief system. For many years he was enslaved in fear and depression over guilt over a past sin of fornication. Bob graciously helped guide him to truth so he could walk in new freedom. He no longer needs to be enslaved to the law but is free to walk in the grace of God. Andy asked a common question asked by many people still today. He asked, “What is the role of the ten commandments in the life of a believer?” The short answer is ‘not a thing’. Bob also addressed a statement he has heard by many people, “We are no longer under ceremonial laws but we are still under the ten commandments.” That is totally false but is still being said today by many people. Bob shared scripture after scripture to more thoroughly explain.

In summary, the law is designed for unbelievers, not believers (1 Timothy 1:9). The law was added in order for men to recognize their utter sinfulness, their state of condemnation, dead in sin, that they are spiritually dead, so that they might seek a savior (Romans 7:7, Hebrews 7:19, Galatians 3:19-21).… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Julie called to ask if living with someone outside marriage is wrong. Bob said it is sin and explained the simple gospel message. She was making excuses for her behavior and Bob was firm with truth, extending grace, but firmly instructing her to make right choices. Chip called to simply thank Bob for his teaching on the finality of the cross, the reality of the resurrection and the New Covenant of grace. Chip had spent much time living in the flesh, being condemned when reading scriptures, until he was able to grasp such truth. Katie called, with great emotional pain, for her husband left her. Bob encouraged her and reminded her to think truthfully, take every thought captive, trust God for tomorrow and live day by day, continually giving thanks to God in all things. He further instructed her on living by the Spirit. Bob instructed her to trust the Lord to provide your needs, particularly unconditional love and acceptance, which you cannot receive from a spouse. Bob explained that the root cause of divorce is demanding such things from a spouse they cannot meet. Bob addressed common questions in the world today. “Can believers marry again after divorce?”, “What did Jesus teach in Matthew?”, “What should we do when we sin as believers?”, and “Have I committed the sin of blasphemy?” are the questions asked by several callers. The callers are asking essentially the same question. “What does it mean to walk by faith?” Bob explains the New Covenant we are living under as believers as a covenant of grace, same as a will or a testament, started when Jesus shed hi blood on the cross. By properly understanding Jesus as being a Jew and and Old Covenant, speaking about the New Covenant in the gospels, one can more easily discern the meaning of scriptures in their proper context.
