A Scriptural Journey to Discover the Grace of God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P664 (08-26-21)

Let us Discover Together the Grace of God

It is encouraging to hear people reach out to another brother or sister in Christ or to ask questions because they want to learn and grow. Such an environment where you feel free to ask questions is such an encouragement, where you pray together, have fellowship in the Spirit, and learn from others who have grown in the Lord, and be able to share what the Lord is doing in your own life. In the Internet age, the ability to do so has opened up such opportunities to people living in different states and even across countries with a Zoom bible study. Although you do not have the close person to person interaction, there are opportunities you would never have had otherwise.

So as you listen to the callers, you can hear the grateful attitudes of the heart, even from the resources made available to them, such as Classic Christianity and A Spiritual Journey to Discover the Grace of God that they testified has totally changed their understanding of what the Christian life is all about.

One caller was in a bible study at lunch break from work with other people.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God Jesus So Loved the World

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P8 (08-24-21)

Love is What Motivated God’s Provision of New Life for You and Me

Jesus Christ is the life we need. We are to rest in Christ’ finished work for us. Forgiveness of sins is over. All punishment was placed on Jesus, with none left for you. That provision for sin allows us to freely approach God, for there is now no fear of punishment. We can come to Him to receive what He really came to give us, eternal life, the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead to be placed in you forever. So let that perfect love cast out fear so you can love one another with the same love God has given you. God’s love preceded His provision for forgiveness for sin.

Many of us have grown up in church and heard the song sung, Amazing Grace. Have you pondered over how the grace of God surely is amazing? When church leadership incorrectly teaches people to ask God to forgive you when you sin or to keep short accounts with God, what is amazing about begging God to forgive you? That is not acting in faith, asking God for what in Him you already have, the forgiveness of sins.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Fellowship in Jesus and the Body of Christ

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P660 (08-12-21)

What About 1 John 1:9 and Romans 13?

Some of the most common questions asked about concern passages of scripture in 1 John 1:8-9 and Romans 13. When I sin as a believer, am I out of fellowship with God? And if so, do I have to confess my sins, to get back in fellowship with God? As believers in the New Covenant, are we to obey civil law? But I thought somewhere in scripture I read that God came to abolish the law. So what does that mean that a believer is no longer under the law?

First, let us read the full passage of scripture in 1 John. Then, let us ask some questions. Who is the author of 1 John speaking to? Believers or non-believers? Also, realize that this is translated into English from Greek. Could the translation into English be a poor translation? If it was literally translated from the Greek, what would it really be saying? If it was saying what many people think it is saying, how would that contradict other clear scriptures such as John 19:30, Romans 5:10, Hebrews 9:20 and Hebrews 10:17-18. A common principle in interpretation is to base your doctrine on the many scriptures that are clear rather than on one scripture that is not as clear.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Makes us Ministers of the New

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P23 (07-14-21)

Synopsis

It is so important to understand what God Himself says is the gospel that saves. In 1 Corinthians 15, we read that it is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Nothing else. There is no baptism, church attendance, speaking in tongues, going to a confessional booth, seven sacraments, quoting 1 John 1:9 to keep yourself in fellowship, saved. Those latter things are things taught by the traditions of men. The word of God does not say such things. Your confidence in the gospel must be in what God Himself says it is, and that you have allowed the Holy spirit to reveal that truth to you. Your confidence must not be in the denominational persuasions of men, or what any pastor, priest or man says, for they could be teaching error.

So what did Jesus accomplish by his death on a cross? What did Jesus say after he gave up his spirit, after shedding his blood on a cross? It is finished. What is finished? Did not the author of Hebrews tell us that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin? Yes, in Hebrews 9:22.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Our Confidence

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P22 (07-13-21)

Synopsis

Where is your confidence placed? Is it placed in our possessions? They could all be burned up in a fire. It could be here today and gone tomorrow. In your job? You could be fired tomorrow? You could be replaced by a smarter, younger employee, or a dictator could come to power and take all your land away. So what is the power of confidence we have who are in Christ Jesus?

Hebrews 10:32-39
32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34 You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. 35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37. For,

“In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”[Isaiah

Jesus Forgave You Completely

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P21 (07-12-21)

Synopsis

Turn to Hebrews 10:19-25. As you do so, ponder over all that the first ten chapters of Hebrews just got through telling you. If you have not read the book of Hebrews before, read it again and again in its entirety, asking the Spirit to teach you what it means. When you understand God’s love for you, what kind of response should that produce in you?

Have you come to understand you are a forgiven person, that all your sins were taken away by one act of God in sending His Son to die on a cross for you, and that while you were still enemies of God in your mind, He died for you. You came to the end of the law for righteousness, realizing the law put you to death so that you died to the law, so you can live under grace. There is no more sacrifice for sin. It is finished.

You realized you had no righteousness of your own, hopeless and spiritually dead to God. So you received what God came to give you, His life placed in you. You are washed. You are cleansed.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
