Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P12 (06-21-21)

Synopsis

People say, “God is the same yesterday, today and forever and everything is the same.” No, everything is not the same. God changed things when He ushered in the New Covenant. There was an Old Covenant that was replaced. Under the Old Covenant, you had rules and regulations, with the ten commandments along with dietary laws, that say if you do this, then God will do this. There was a temporary covering for sins, a temporary sacrificial system of shedding the blood of bulls and goats that could never take away sins. There were promises under the Old Covenant, mostly physical in nature, of having their physical needs provided for them, and to be God”s treasured possession, if they just obeyed. But the law was never added so man could be made right with God. It was added so mankind may recognize his sinful state, his condition of spiritual death, like a mirror to see dirt on your face, so he may seek a Savior. It was a system that was to only last until the time of Christ.

Synopsis

Faith is Understanding Jesus Forgave You Completely!

This New Covenant we are under today is a covenant of grace. When you think about what is the eternal inheritance that Jesus bought and secured for us, we cannot help but say, “Thank you, Jesus” and “Praise be to God for His marvelous grace.” This grace provided for us a new heart, the heart of God that is full of His love and compassion that we can access and allow to flow out of us. We have this unconditional acceptance, where we are free to fail without any condemnation, and can then boldly go to the throne of grace to instruct us, guide us into truth to correct our harmful behavior, with such tender-loving care. This is all part of this wonderful personal relationship with the living God, who rejoices over us, rejoices when we rejoice, and who delights in us. And to think that God, who created the entire vast universe with His spoken word, has such wonderful thoughts concerning me! He even knows every hair on my head.

Synopsis

Sometimes we can get off focus on what is really important in life, what God has called us to do in regard to being fishers of men, to reach out with love and truth for the souls of men. We can spend endless hours trying to figure out end time prophecies, and as interesting as that might be, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Yes, we should read Revelation and not avoid it, but everything in proper perspective. God’s word certainly tells us that anyone who reads the words of the prophecy and takes it to heart what is written in it is blessed. So He certainly wants us to read it with that in mind. God wants us prepared but not scared.

Then there is our neighbor or relative who does not know Christ. If you got a call from a friend, who at one time in his life rejected God, or even mocked the things of God, but all of a sudden there is a change in attitude in him. Synopsis

Sometimes we struggle with answering questions that non-believers ask. They do not know the Lord so they ask questions without understanding and also from a perspective of the world. They could be caught up in believing all kinds of things that are not even true, like someone has a hex on them, or not believing the truth, that Jesus is God or the Trinity, that God is one, and there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Many times they have a negative attitude toward religion, and whenever they hear the word Jesus, they automatically associate all that they hate about religion with Jesus, not distinguishing the difference between the two. I assure you there is nothing to hate about Jesus, but there is certainly much to hate about religion, the legalism and the lists of rules and regulations, and even false doctrine and a false gospel even though they use the name of Jesus, but certainly not the Jesus of the bible. Synopsis

When you read in the scriptures about all the different eyewitnesses of those who saw, heard and touched Jesus, what conclusions do you come to? You can only come to the conclusion that Jesus is either a nutcase, a liar, or an imposter, or He is indeed what He claimed to be, God in the flesh. If even archaeological evidence confirms the events, times and places that are recorded in the scriptures are true, and that what is written down by the prophets came true precisely as they said, then I would ask where does the evidence lead? What probability is there that all these over 300 prophecies, even over a thousand years, long before the events occurred, by people of all walks of life and different periods in history, all came true, what reasonable conclusion would you come to? The overwhelming evidence is why we believe that Jesus is God and His word is true. Jesus even said if you cannot believe me by what I say then believe me based on the miracles you see. Jesus Fulfilled The Law And The Prophets

Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A Baptist pastor teaches what he has been taught from a Baptist seminary. So too, a Presbyterian minister teaches what he has been taught from a Presbyterian seminary. And so too with the Methodists and the Catholics. They are taught to depend on what man tells them rather than depending on the Holy Spirit to reveal to them the meaning of the word of God.

Sadly, none of these denominations agree, and they continue to repeat error, generation after generation. So, the church is in sad shape, and often those who know the truth are compelled to leave because they would be silenced or isolated, called out as being divisive, because what people hear, the truth, is contrary to what they have been taught by men, and they will not or are unable to accept what you say, expounding on the scriptures, from what the Spirit has taught you as truth.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
