Follow Jesus to The Cross and Resurrection

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P622 (04-02-21)

Synopsis

People often ask questions from scripture, and get focused on a word or two in a translation that gets them confused. The key is you hold onto truth in scripture you know are true, and do not let less clear scripture conflict with what you know is true. For if you are in Christ Jesus, you know the gospel you have come to understand and have believed in. Instead, it usually means you need to check it out with another translation and also read more of the passage in its entire context.

An example of that is the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10. Is it really about judgment, as if we are going to be judged, or punished by God, for the bad things we have done in our flesh? No. God already dealt with sin once and for all when He shed His blood on a cross. The gospel has made that clear, where other scriptures clearly reveal that, as in Hebrews, where Jesus promised us that He remembers our sins no more and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

That passage of scripture … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

In Christ Jesus Present With The Lord

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P28 (06-22-20)

Synopsis

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Ponder over this scripture. How much time do you and I spend on things that are temporary, the seen things, when the Lord tells us to keep our eyes on Him and things that are eternal? We know our bodies are wasting away. Anyone over forty certainly has a greater understanding of that, and certainly someone in their fifties. But we are told to number our days so we may gain a heart of wisdom. We need to evaluate our priorities in life and invest in things that last forever, in worthy ministries to get the message of God’s grace into the hearts of men. We need to invest our money, our time, and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Our Faith is in Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P27 (06-17-20)

Synopsis

This hope we have is in this new glorious body we have been promised and being with the Lord forever. We have this hope, so there is no fear in death, by which we say, “Where, Oh death, is your sting. Where, Oh death, is your victory.” Paul writes to encourage the believers, both those who are still alive when the Lord returns, and those who have already died, of this hope. We will have a new glorious body like His when we see Him like He is, for He says He will transform our lowly bodies into glorious bodies like His because we shall see Him as He is. When we die He has told us that when we are absent from this body, this earthly tent, we shall be present with Him. So the Spirit reveals the truth of these things to us. He does so so that we can know this hope and not weep like those who have no hope. We hold onto what He has said and believe what He tells us, because that is what faith is, believing what He … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Religion Makes you Mean as a Hornet

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P526 (04-03-20)

Synopsis

Listen to how heart-breaking it is when believers are caught up in sin, but even more so when they are not approached in grace, but rather with condemnation. God instructs us to come with an attitude of restoring a brother who is caught up in sin, to come in an attitude of humility and grace. Listen as Bob explains the scriptures in Genesis, of Noah’s drunkenness, and his sons response to that, of Jesus teaching in Matthew, of taking at most two or three witnesses, and that only after the person refused to repent and who remained proud and in rebellion, of Jesus gracious response to the woman caught in adultery, and Paul’s instruction to us in Colossians, and the example of Paul to the brother who boasted of having sex with his father’s wife, how that was necessary to protect the body from infection.

Listen to Bob share with a father whose daughter is a lesbian, who is flaunting that sin, and wanting to bring her lover home with her. Bob shares truth in scripture that that is sin, and to not flaunt that sin in front of me … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
