Law And Grace

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P478 (10-03-19)

Transcript

Liz from Gallup, NM

Liz: I have been saved for 8 years, love the Lord with all my heart, and married for 9 years. We got married in the church but he walked away. I asked him to move.

Liz: In Ephesians it says a man is to write a note to let the wife go. That is what I have to do. (She is in great distress. You can hear anguish or tears in her voice.)

Bob: I am sure it does not say that, Liz. You are reading something that is not there.

Bob: Why are you so upset with this man in your marriage?

Liz: He does not believe the bible. He is believing his traditional way. He is gay. He is practicing homosexuality. He prefers a man than me. (She is quite emotional). I need to file for a divorce.

Bob: Hold on Liz. Let me ask the questions and you answer. I think I can help you better that way.

Bob: Is he practicing homosexuality?

Liz: Yes. People have seen him.

Bob: Have you confronted him with his homosexuality?

Liz: Yes. Has he admitted that he is?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

He First Loved Us

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 79 (10-01-19)

Let us join Bob now as he gets started with today’s lesson. Jesus came to earth to serve in love.

Jesus, God in the flesh, came to earth, taking on an earth suit, to serve us in love. Jesus took away your sins on the cross. God offers eternal life!

Transcript

In chapter 13 we pick up in the last hours, in the preparation of the Passover supper where Jesus showed us the meaning of servitude and having the heart of a servant. He came to put in earth suit to serve us in love. He told us to do likewise, to serve one another in love.

He gave the example in washing of his disciples feet, the lowest form of servanthood in those days. He showed his love for his disciples by washing their feet. He told us that a servant is not greater than his master.

In those passages you read about Jesus prediction in regards to his disciples. He predicts the betrayal of Judas and the denial by Peter. You had Judas who betrayed him. You had Peter who denied him. You had Thomas who doubted him. You had every possible emotion being displayed through his disciples in regards to Jesus of Nazareth.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Understanding the New Covenant

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P477 (9-27-19)

Transcript

Nick from Loredo, TX

Nick: I was listening to someone preach the other day. He said you cannot be a cafeteria Christian. What he meant was that you cannot be a Christian that just picks and chooses scriptures and live accordingly. It is either all of the scripture or none of them.

Bob: Well, that is not true. You certainly do not want to be living under the Old Covenant when it has been replaced by the New Covenant. I do not know what his theology is. Let us take two scenarios. If he is saying that we are just as much under the Old Covenant as the New Covenant, then that person is out to lunch. If the Jews could not live under the Old Covenant, we cannot live under it either. That is why God came to replace the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant is obsolete, old and aging and will soon disappear. We do not live under the Old Covenant. We live under the New Covenant.

Hebrews 8:13
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Listen to The Spirit of Truth

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 76 (09-24-19)

Synopsis

Bob George continues sharing from the 16th chapter of John. Jesus came to speak truth into the hearts of men. Sadly, even today, not everyone receives truth. The Jews today deny Jesus is the Messiah. They rejected him as the promised Messiah, whom the prophets told was to come into this world to take away sins. Most Jews today do not even know the bible. They hardly know anything except the Passover and things you celebrate, but nothing about Moses, yet they all agree that Jesus is not God. You have the Muslims who would rather believe Mohammad over the words of Jesus, and even think they are doing a service to God by killing Jews and Christians. You have the atheist, who is a fool, saying there is no God. You have the mystics who say that truth does not really matter. “Just love one another”, they say, yet fail to realize that it is impossible to love perfectly as God demonstrated His love to us. Then you have the Catholics, who would rather trust their traditions and what the pope has to say, who deny the finality of the cross and say that you must go through a priest to get your sins forgiven.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Convict the World of Unbelief in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 75 (09-23-19)

Synopsis

Briefly turn to the 15th chapter of John. Then we will continue in the 16th chapter. Recall Jesus is talking to his disciples, close to the end of his life on earth, heading to a cross. He is telling them about his going away and that it is better that he goes away. There are many things Jesus taught them over these three years with them but they were not understanding. The disciples would ask, “Why are you going away?” and “How can it be better for us that you are going away?” They were not able to understand. They were filled with grief, not able to bear what Jesus was telling them.

Jesus is comforting them and providing instruction concerning difficult times ahead but also providing hope of a future, of peace that surpasses understanding. He tells them that a time will come that they will be kicked out of the synagogue. He does not want them to have unrealistic expectations of the future. But he also tells them that when he goes away, he will send the Holy Spirit to be in you and to be with you forever.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God is the Initiator

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 64 (08-27-19)

Synopsis

Follow along in the 13th chapter of John, as Jesus is soon going to be arrested and ultimately go to the cross and then to the victory of the resurrection. This is the time of Jesus in his last days. He is going to teach the most important elements of his entire ministry. If you or I knew we had only a few weeks left to live, we would probably give the most important instructions to the ones we love. So it is with Jesus.

Jesus is in a rented room, having the last meal he would ever have on earth with his disciples. He, being the creator of all things, God in the flesh, stoops down and washes the disciples feet. This was done in an attitude of service, showing great humility. Peter, of course, spoke up, as he usually does, not understanding why Jesus was doing such a thing.

Peter asked, “Why are you washing my feet?” Jesus said, “ If you do not let me wash your feet, then you have no part in me.” What is Jesus really saying? “Listen, I am going to a cross, and at that cross, your sins will be placed on me, and not just your sins, but the sins of the entire world.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
