“Forget The Former Things; do Not Dwell on the Past.
~ We cannot change the past. Everything we have done in the past cannot be changed. The past is one second ago, one minute ago, one hour ago, one day ago, one year ago… We also do not know the future (as God only knows the future). All we can do is live by faith in the moment. Yet we all tend to bring up the past, and some more than others. People get depressed when they focus on the past or focus on what “might” happen to them in the future (as in worrying about tomorrow). Jesus had much to tell us about ourselves, if we would only listen. He told us not to worry about tomorrow.
So, whether you are focusing on yesterday, that you cannot change, or worrying about tomorrow, which is in God’s hands, you end up focusing on yourself. And that causes a person to think depressing thoughts. And the more depressing the thoughts become the more depressed a person gets.
