What is Salvation

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 41 (07-03-19)

Turn to the gospel of John.

Let us look at a passage of scripture so important to us that is so clear on what Jesus said in regards to salvation. Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Mankind has all kinds of opinions on what salvation is. Are you saved by going to a certain denomination? No! By doing enough good or avoiding too much bad? No!

Do you lean on your understanding? We all have that tendency. Do you rely on what man has told you? Do you look at the DaVinci code, the philosophies of men or science for the answer to life? Where is your source of truth and is it reliable? Is it from men or from God and how would you know?

Man has the tendency to rely on his own understanding for truth, which is the same error in the garden of Eden. Adam chose to find out for himself what is right and wrong and what is good and evil. He told God he did not need Him for knowing good and evil, right and wrong.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Press on to the High Calling

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 40 (07-02-19)

Bob George shares a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel as he continues sharing from the gospel of John. He begins in John 8, where Jesus identifies himself as the light of the world, contrasting darkness (the lost, the dead) with the light (the saved, with life). You are not going into the market place telling people how sinful they are but how dead they are. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins but only because of the sin of the rejection of life. If you reject life you remain dead (John 3:36). If you reject the offer of forgiveness you remain unforgiven. You who are in Christ have good news to tell people. It is a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel. You, who are in Christ Jesus, are His ambassadors.

Bob George explains why Jesus came to this earth to say what he did and do what he did, culminating in his death, burial and resurrection. He claimed to be God, demonstrating that he is God by the way he lived, the words he spoke, and even through the miracles that were performed through him, and ultimately the greatest miracle of all, his resurrection from the dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Eternal Life in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 39 (07-01-19)

Bob George continues sharing from the gospel of John. He shared about how the disciples waited in Galilee to receive the promised Holy Spirit. That day they were born again. When they received the Holy Spirit, they were changed men. Before they were once cowardly and fearful, hiding in a room fearing for their lives, and now they are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ boldly before men. There are those in the crowd who were drawn to hear the teachings of Jesus. So too was Nicodemus, a religious Pharisee. Unlike the other Pharisees, he wanted to know the will of God. Nicodemus had said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” The other Pharisees were like Communists or politicians of today, not wanting to hear truth, but just spin a story. They hated Jesus without reason. Jesus came full of grace and truth. This is very evident in John 8 in how he restores a woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees set her up in order try to trap Jesus in his words and see what Jesus would do.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

How Many Miracles to Believe

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 38 (06-26-19)

Bob George continues sharing from the gospel of John, starting at John 7:30. The main point Bob emphasized was that Jesus acted in love. He did not come to condemn but to save. He walked in love and is full of mercy and grace. His attitude is one of how to restore man. When you see someone in a sin, do you look down on them and tell them they deserve to be where they are or do you have pity and a longing in your heart for the person to be set free, to walk in new free freedom, to change their attitude toward sin.

After the humble, those wanting to do the will of God, seeing Jesus love, miracles and manner of life, had come to believe and put their faith in Jesus, the rulers of the age and the religious leaders became angry. How nonsensical and against all reason is that! Yet that is not unlike the religious leaders and rulers of this world today. The rulers of this world see such actions of Jesus as a threat to their earthly kingdom, and wanted to kill Jesus, all for the sake of keeping their power and position, which is here today and gone tomorrow.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

I and the Father are One

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 37 (06-25-19)

Bob George explains how truth is accepted in the hearts of man, but also rejected by many. Bob shares what attitude a person should have in their heart in order for truth to be made known to them. Do you have the desire to do God’s will? If you do, then when you hear the teaching of Jesus, then you will know the truth when you hear it. No one can do God’s will in the energy of the flesh, but when our desire is there, to do God’s will, the moment we hear truth, we readily accept truth and that truth sets us free. That is why when Jesus asked his disciples, “Do you want to leave too?” that Peter said “Where shall we go? You have the very words of eternal life.”

But what keeps people from receiving truth? We have such a tendency to only see things in the natural realm. How do we understand things of the Spirit when we have never seen Spirit, never came from heaven, and were born spiritually dead. Someone from heaven has to teach us truth for only he came from heaven and came from there to tell us who God is.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Will of God is Believe in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 36 (06-24-19)

Bob George shares from the book of John. Jesus identifies himself as the bread of life when the Jews were all focused on physical food for daily living. Jesus was sharing spiritual truth with them, that he is the life they need to live forever. We came into this world with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing. We came into this world born spiritually dead and if we die in that state, we certainly have nothing but weeping and gnashing of teeth, where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out. The Spirit gives life and the flesh counts for nothing. So why spend all your energy focused on physically things that are here today and gone tomorrow. Listen to the very words of God, and Jesus is the exact representation of God on earth. He came from heaven to speak words from heaven and he is going back there, and in our day, he has already gone back there, so he can bring us to be with Him forever. The gospel is simple. You are dead and in need of life. We do not speak with eloquence of speech, or with wisdom of this age, or with persuasive words, or with flattery or boasting, but we preach Jesus Christ and him crucified in weakness and fear and humility.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
