As believers, we struggle at times with all kinds of life issues. A common issue is marriage, and especially so when one or the other spouse is not a believer. AS a born again believer, we have the Spirit of God living in us, and so we have access to God’s wisdom through his word, to renew our mind so our behavior is in accordance with who we are. But a non-believer does not have that resource, and therein lies the conflict. That is why the word of God instructs believers not to be unequally yoked, for what does light have to do with darkness.

Many times people call in to ask questions about sin and forgiveness. What do you do when you sin as a believer? Why do I still sin if I am saved? Those are some of the common questions people ask. These are symptoms of not fully understanding what Jesus provided for you at the cross. When Jesus died, he took away the cause of our death, which is sin, in order that life might be given. Synopsis

Sometimes we can get all bogged down worrying about whether someone is going to be saved. We shared the truth with him and we want him to be saved. But we have to learn what God’s role is and what our role is. One man waters, another plants, but God causes the growth. Ultimately, man has a free will. There are people who have heard the message of the gospel, but they do not want it. They are stubborn. We cannot make anyone want to listen. It is their free choice. It does no good to get all worried about that. Indeed, worry is sin. So let it go. Shake the dust off your feet and move on. Acknowledge that that worry is sin, praise God for His forgiveness of sin already, and thank Him for His great mercy and kindness to you.

Many times people do not understand what salvation is. Salvation is being saved from the consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life, eternal life. Synopsis

Have you thought about what Jesus accomplished for us? Did you know that we have already been reconciled, and that before you were ever born. Wait a minute, you ask, “Does that mean everyone is saved, or born again?” No. “What are you saying then?” When Jesus died on that cross, he took away the sins of the entire world. That is a necessary part for salvation. It was preparation for life to be given, but until someone receives that life they are not born again because he does not have the Spirit of God living in him. The complete gospel is the meaning of his death, burial and resurrection. Let us move on from the cross and onto the resurrection.

When you realize that you are wretched, you realize that you are dead in sin already, knowing that the good you ought to do, you do not do, and the things you hate to do, you do anyhow. Then you realize that that sin that caused your death was paid in full. But you still cannot stop your sinning and you are still wretched. Let us learn about laying a solid foundation of Christ Jesus living in you. You must start with and continue on with gaining a deeper understanding of Christ, who is your life. It is not only going to be a foundation of what your hope of glory is, but it will be a foundation for you for subjects like predestination and election, which was discussed last week. It is a foundation in which to live in all godliness, which is by faith.

With any foundation, if your premise is off, then everything else will be off. Without a proper understanding of these things, without a foundation, you really cannot understand the scriptures correctly, they make no sense, and you are tossed to and fro by every wind of teaching. So we looked at Pentecost and how Christ is the head of the body, the church, the Ekklesia, made up of both born again Jews and born again Gentiles. So you have a place to start and build on, to form a solid foundation. To really appreciate and understand this mystery, Christ in you, your hope of glory, that is for both the Jew and the Gentile, let us learn something about the background of who the Jews and the Gentiles were in the time period of the Old Testament, and of the time Jesus walked the earth until the day that the first Gentile received the Holy Spirit just like the Jews at Pentecost did. That mystery was not revealed until God revealed it to the apostle Paul. Even though the truth of that was in the heart of God, and there are even scriptures spoken through the prophets of a promised light unto the Gentiles, that was not understood. What Jew, who had the law and the prophets and the ceremonies and the traditions of Moses, could comprehend a Gentile coming to faith the same way as the Jew? Synopsis

Knowing God and His word, the meaning of the word as revealed by the Spirit of God, is really useful for practical living.Sometimes you wonder what happens in religious denominations, if they even know God or His word. You have people who just do not think, believing the King James only bible, and those who are into legalism. It sure makes you wonder if they even have the Spirit, because if you have the Spirit living in you, you would think you would be led by the Spirit. You cannot be led by the spirit and be led by the law at the same time.

As a person led by the Spirit of God, you will begin to realize when something is not working, those old thinking patterns you used to have as a lost person. You might be struggling in your marriage. But little by little you hear truth, and that truth is maybe taught in a different way than how you have been taught in your local denomination you assemble with and it just helps you to walk free, in a new and different way.
