Synopsis

When you think of church, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you think of activities, a church building on the corner of walk and don’t walk? Or, do you think of people you so dearly loved, of how they have grown in the Lord, memories of how they moved your heart, influenced your own life or the lives of others? Do you think of truth of the word of God that was told that transformed the lives of people, and your own life as well? Do you remember the loving-kindness, the patience and long-suffering, and love that was on display among God’s people? Listen as Paul mentions the names of several people that moved his heart.

The church is people, made up of those who are born again, sanctified, set apart from the world, called unto God. The church is a place to be where we can learn, have fellowship with one another, pray with each other and for one another. Do Not Harden Your Heart to Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P45 (02-19-20)

Synopsis

Although many people, among the Jews, rejected the message of the gospel, a remnant was saved. Many Jews did reject Christ Jesus as the Messiah. However, there is always a remnant that are willing to listen. The first people who came to Christ were Jewish people. Thousands heard the preaching of the apostle Peter, and the other apostles, and were saved. There are those who will have humble hearts, who will hear, believe and be saved.

Today, it seems, not many people want to listen to truth. Many people’s minds are made up, and do not realize the errors they have believed. They would rather hold on to their denominational belief system, but not test it out with the word of God to see if what is said is true. Few will even open a bible up to read it. I encourage you to read your bible, not to gather information, but to get to know the author, who is God. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to explain to you the meaning of it. Learn to ask questions of God. Go Beyond The Cross

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P32 (01-21-19)

Synopsis

As we read in Romans 8, there is life in the Spirit. Formerly, the mind of the lost person was hostile to God. We do not naturally think of ourselves as hostile to God, but we are. The law is set against us and so we would rather plead ignorance. Then we can at least plead ignorance. But if we are properly trained by the law to lead us to Christ, then the law served its purpose to convince us that we are dead and in need of life.

We used to live according to the flesh, when we were lost, because that is all we had. But then when we were born again, the Spirit of God came to indwell us. We were set free from the law of sin and death because in our weak state we were never able to live up to the demands of the law. The Spirit of life came to live in us to produce love in and through us, as we learn to trust God.

Saved by Life

Synopsis

God has always wanted man to live by faith, to trust Him. The root of all sin is that man chose not to trust God, to believe what God has said. Man has chosen for himself what is right and wrong, independent of God. That is how sin entered the world. Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and that affected the entire human race. Now every person is born in the likeness of Adam in his sinful, broken state. All have sinned and all have died.

That is why Jesus came to this world, to save us from the condition of death, death to God, a separation from God in what was once a trusting and loving relationship between God and man. So God came to first take away the cause of death, which is sin, in order to offer new life to man. Salvation is new life in Christ, the Spirit of God to be placed back into man, to restore what was lost in the garden of Eden. An often asked question is for help finding a church in their area that is preaching truth. Sadly, this is becoming harder and harder even today. More and more people are staying at home and if they are fortunate, they are meeting in homes with like-minded people who love the truth of the word of God. They want to be in a place where they can be mutually encouraged by one another’s faith and to be guarded from error and walk free.

To those looking for truth, often times they do not know where to look. Yet God gave us His word so we can know the truth. But people are led astray to look for truth in the wrong places, or to form doctrine from books that are not even canon. The canon is the truth as determined within the first hundred years as to the books that are inspired of God, the scriptures, the 66 book of the bible we hold in our hands today. It is dangerous to form doctrine, the foundation of truth, from sources other than God’s word.
