Saved by the Baptism of The Holy Spirit Not Water Baptism – You Must Repent of Your Unbelief and Believe in Christ Jesus

In today’s Classic Christianity Radio program Bob discusses baptism of the Holy Spirit vs water baptism. Only baptism by the Holy Spirit, making a person born again of the Spirit, is the only way salvation takes place. Water baptism doesn’t do anything for you except get you wet.

Another caller called in about forgiveness of sins and the fellowship issue. Fellowship is always in the fellowship saved or out of the fellowship lost.

Then there was another caller that wondered about Acts 18:24-28 in regards to being saved by baptism vs baptism of the Holy Spirit and altar calls. Bob’s answer brings additional insights on to what was happening in the book of Acts at that point in time, in that some had not even heard of baptism of the Holy Spirit. They only had heard of John the Baptist, water baptism, pointing toward the One that would take away all their sins on the cross. It’s also important to remember that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and further to remember that we are all going to be absent from the body and present with the Lord for all those in Christ Jesus. We need to be prepared for the crises that are sure to come into our lives, and it is vitally important that we understand who we are in Christ Jesus and the word of God. So many times, people are not prepared for crisis, because they do not even know the word of God.

Bob explains it. Anyone who takes away or adds to the gospel, Paul says they have a different gospel which is no gospel at all.

Righteousness is a gift from God. Jesus gives us His life and His righteousness when we place faith in Him. Jesus says we must be perfect. And the religious people are out there trying to make themselves perfect which is an impossibility. On the other hand, the person that comes to the end of themselves, and realizes they can not be perfect in the sight of God based on what they do or don’t do, then God says, “you’re right.”  The person thinking they can keep the law is filled with pride of self while the other one is humbled by realizing they could not do it. Man Has a Human Spirit That Needs Life

Man is not an animal. Man has a human spirit. It doesn’t have the Spirit of God living in there by default. Man still is alive to the things of the world, yet it is dead to God’s Spirit. Man still wonders about all things. Man is trying to find meaning and purpose to life. We look at money to find happiness. Yet that doesn’t bring satisfaction to life. Solomon said it is all vanity. Solomon had everything yet he realized it was all vanity.

Once you come to Christ Jesus, He becomes our source of contentment. Jesus becomes our peace.

John 14:14
14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
