The World’s Sin is Unbelief in Jesus

And so, from God’s vantage point, that’s where He cleansed all men, took away their sins, of the world. But you see my friends, we are still left with that sin of unbelief. All people are born into this world in unbelief. And so there’s only one sin, not to be forgiven, sins have already been forgiven, unbelief doesn’t need forgiving, it needs repented of. It needs changed. It would do you no good for God to say, hey unbeliever, I forgive you as an unbeliever. Because what are you? A forgiven unbeliever.

Just as a person’s physical growth is based on proper diet and exercise, so is the Christians’s spiritual growth dependent on regular feeding upon the word of God and application of its principles. With more false teaching, shifting opinions and general confusion in the world than ever before, Christians need a solid foundation upon which to base their beliefs and build their lives. The word of God declares that Jesus Christ is that foundation of truth. In Search of an Identity

The issue of identity is inescapable and central to our lives. “Who am I?” we all ask. “Where did I come from? Where am I going?” Every person wrestles with these questions, and the answers we adopt determine the direction of our lives.

Just as a person’s physical growth is based on proper diet and exercise, so is the Christians’s spiritual growth dependent on regular feeding upon the word of God and application of its principles. With more false teaching, shifting opinions and general confusion in the world than ever before, Christians need a solid foundation upon which to base their beliefs and build their lives. Turn to chapter 9, “Living Under Grace” in our study guide, A Closer Look at The Reality of the Resurrection.

Picking up there we read, In Christ we have become brand new creations with a brand new identity. We studied that a couple of weeks ago. And with this comes a brand new way of life. If I’m a new creation, I have a new way of life. It’s like the illustration of the caterpillar and the butterfly. You can try to teach that worm (the caterpillar) to do all the things a butterfly can do, but it’s impossible to do. You can’t improve on your wormhood, you need to be a new creation. This is how being born again is. Once you are born again of the Spirit, you can never go back to being a worm again. You have a brand new identity. You are now a beautiful creature. You can still try and do things that the worm use to do, but you will never be a worm ever again. Ernie went on to ask a question in regards to Revelation 22:19 “and if anyone takes away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” is this dealing with cults? I kind-of get the feeling with that, in the way of adding…

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Bob explains it. Anyone who takes away or adds to the gospel, Paul says they have a different gospel which is no gospel at all.

Tony called from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He called about Acts 2:38 and also about baptism. He remembered in the past, getting dunked in water and thinking to himself, this is dumb for I am already saved. He explained that he had heard Bob explaining on another program that about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and how he could of cried because he himself came to understand that being baptized in water means nothing for salvation.

Tony went on to say that he had believed in water baptism his whole life, but then he himself had searched the scriptures and discovered it was real dumb to believe in water baptism as part of salvation. Emotions Respond to Whatever We Are Thinking

Justin called from Vancouver, British Columbia. He wanted some practical biblical advice from scripture for someone that is facing emotional pain.

Bob tells him that our emotions follow what we are thinking. We don’t have emotional problems, we have thinking problems. It’s like when you go to the movie and see a scary movie, that scares the living daylights out of you.

The same thing occurs to the person that is dwelling on sins from the past or the things from our past that were not good. Then, if that isn’t enough for us to worry about, we start thinking about all the bad things that may happen in the future. You start thinking about all the hardships you are going to face or thinking you may have to go selling pencils on a street-corner someplace for a job.

Jesus told us to live one day at a time, and the Apostle Paul wrote, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
