Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P15 (06-28-21)

Synopsis

Have you ever pondered the sacrifice Jesus made for you? He came to this earth, demonstrated He is God by the things He said and did, and eyewitnesses, the apostles, confirmed that by writing down what they saw and heard. But the ultimate demonstration of His love is He laid down His life for us, only to be raised up to new life again, for our sake. No greater love is there than that.

Unfortunately, many people today do not understand all that Jesus did. Even people who are members of mainline denominations have not understood. Why are people still sacrificing today so as to keep in fellowship with God, to ask God to forgive them when they sin? Or to go to a priest or a confessional booth to get their sins forgiven? When Jesus shed His blood on a cross, and Jesus being God in the flesh, did His one time sacrifice on a cross take away only some sins but not all sins? John the Baptist certainly did not think so. Synopsis

It seems the message of the gospel, of proclaiming truth in Christ Jesus, has to be continually told because there are always new people born into this world, dead spiritually, and who are being raised by the same training centers that never get set aside or never stop speaking error, for they hold onto error, for they have never heard the truth themselves, or stopped to test all things with the word of God. Seminaries continue to put out the same teaching year after year.

And if that is not bad enough, more error gets added, more infiltrators get into those teaching centers called the modern church, and instead of teaching truth, they teach error, law mixed with grace at best. But whether it is speaking in tongues or tithes for today, error continues on. Then new errors get added it seems, if not spiritual formation, then critical race theory, or something else. It seems the battle for the souls of men gets harder day by day, as truth is being suppressed, not just by the church-house, which is heart-breaking itself, but by those in power and authority over us, by the government and social culture also.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

Faith is Walking in Truth!

God has given us very great and precious promises so that we may participate in the divine nature. This was made possible by the New Covenant, that those who come to faith in what Jesus alone accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection, are now under and have received, which is Christ Himself, alive living in you. In Christ, we have been given a new heart, with unconditional acceptance, a personal relationship with God, and being made a forgiven person forever.

Just as there is nothing you can do to earn salvation, there is nothing you can do to lose salvation. There are no conditions put on you for God to accept you. The scripture simply says you are accepted in the beloved. Jesus took away the sins of the world, never to be seen again by God. Sin is what caused our death, and there is no forgiveness of sins without the shedding of blood. Jesus shed His blood once and for all, so Jesus is not going to shed His blood again on a cross. Synopsis

A very common question asked is, “What about 1 John 1:9?” People ask this because they are often taught that this passage is written to believers, telling believers to confess their sins to God when they sin. What they mean by that is that when you sin, to stay in fellowship with God, you keep short accounts of sins with God by asking God to forgive you when you sin. But is that true? Have you read all of 1 John to discern its context? And if that is true, what people teach about 1 John 1:9, then Jesus did not take away all our sins, and, if that is so, then He would have to come back again to shed His blood again, every time we sinned, because according to Hebrews 9:22 that is what He would have to do for sins to be forgiven? And that would also make Jesus out to be a liar who cried out at the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30), which in Greek, is the word, Tetelestai, meaning “Paid in full”, which is really saying that God took away the sins of the entire world, all the way back to Adam and forward to eternity, by eternally paying the price of death for sin, once and for all, for sins that we committed and earned the penalty of death for sin (Romans 6:23).… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

People have grown up under, or have heard, all kinds of teachings of men, whether Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian or Pentecostal or any number of denominations out there. Now on a matter of such eternal importance as salvation, sadly the message is not proclaimed clearly or even accurately. You may have heard all kinds of phrases like, “Once saved, always saved”, “Sacraments are necessary for salvation”, that salvation is a process that you have to go through, “You have to be baptized in order to be saved.” or that “Salvation is getting your sins forgiven.” It is so sad that the gospel of salvation is not proclaimed clearly and accurately as it ought to be! Not only that, even when it is proclaimed on one Sunday it is undermined by double-talk when a preacher teaches 1 John 1:9 out of context and uses it to tell people to ask God to forgive them when they sin so as to keep short accounts with God and to keep in fellowship with God. Synopsis

We have this struggle between our flesh and the Spirit more than we like to admit or even realize. When you think of sin, as God defines it, as anything that does not come from faith is sin, how many times are we anxious? Many of us have been incorrectly taught that you need to confess your sins to God to keep in fellowship, but that is not biblical. Jesus took away our sins at the cross, without which there is no forgiveness of sins, and He did that before we even asked Him to. He is not going to shed His blood again, and has chosen to remember our sins no more. The sin of the world that must be repented of, and the only sin, is unbelief in Him. So it is not faith to ask for what in Him you already have, the forgiveness of sins. Again, that forgiveness was provided before you and I were ever born physically into this world. In Him is the redemption, the forgiveness of sins, as we read in Ephesians 1:7. Are you in Him?

If you are a child of God, you became a child by receiving what God came to offer you, His very Holy Spirit of life to be placed in you, the same life that raised Jesus from the dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
