You Must be Born Again

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 11 (04-23-19)

Bob resumes the study of the gospel of John. He is currently teaching from John 3 where Nicodemus meets Jesus at night and Jesus explains to him what it means to be born again of the Spirit of God. This is one of the most important chapters because it teaches us how to enter a brand new relationship with Christ Jesus. We not only come to him to be our Lord and Savior but also to be our teacher.

Bob shares again how man is already dead in sin, born in the nature of Adam. Man cannot give spiritual life to man because he does not have spiritual life in himself. But a man was sent from heaven to explain heavenly things to man. God sent Jesus to redeem man from the consequences of sin, which is death. Satan deceived man and man chose to believe the lie. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy but God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, not to condemn the world, but to save man through him. Man was condemned already. Man is dead and in need of life.

God provided for man what he could never do for himself.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Living in a Person

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 10 (04-22-19)

Bob resumes the study of the gospel of John. He is currently teaching from John chapter 3 where Nicodemus meets Jesus at night and Jesus explains to him what it means to be born again of the Spirit of God. This is one of the most important chapters because it teaches us how to enter a brand new relationship with Christ Jesus. We not only come to him to be our Lord and Savior but also to be our teacher.

Bob interviewed with Jim Armstrong when he was graduating from college. They made an offer and Bob accepted their offer to be trained by them. He was not trained by Ford Motor company but by Jim Armstrong. There was an agreement to be trained by them. Bob came to be trained by them. The same thing is true with Jesus. You and I, born again in Christ Jesus, have come to be trained and equipped by Jesus to have our minds renewed and for Jesus to be our source of everything we do. You and I have come to be trained.

When you join the military, you joined to be trained by that branch of the military you joined.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Changes Water to Wine

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 5 (04-09-19)

Bob George continues now in the book of John, chapter 2. He paused briefly to explain that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are referred to as the synoptic gospels. These gospels provide further details that are left out in the book of John. Each of the gospels had a different viewpoint since written to a different audience. Matthew was writing from the standpoint of legal rights to the Messianic throne. Luke provided a detailed account on the life of Christ. Mark wrote primarily to the Gentiles. John was written in 95 A.D. at the end of John’s life about the love of God.

In the first 18 verses, you read about the beginning and the word of God. Then in verse 19, you read John’s testimony.

John 1:19-20
19 Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders[c] in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”

In between this time and prior to verse 19, you read in the other gospels other details such as John baptizing in the Jordan river and Jesus temptation in the wilderness.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Spirit Gives Life

Classic Christianity – Our Attitude Towards Legalism Part 1 (03-25-19)

Bob George, who has been on the air for over 30 years on People to People radio, shares a message about the attitude of Christ toward legalism. As believers, who have the indwelling Holy Spirit, a person with the mind of Christ, what then should our attitude be toward legalism, toward the teaching and teachers of legalism? Legalists teach things of law to keep people under the bondage of law rather than the freedom under grace. You cannot mix law and grace. Under law, there is a punishment associated with law. Without a punishment, the law is worthless. But in Christ, we are no longer under the law but under grace. The punishment of our sins has already been paid in full. God set aside the law through Christ Jesus who fulfilled the entirety of the law. Now, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God offers new life to men. That life is eternal life, the same Holy Spirit life that is in Christ Jesus. Those who believed the message of God’s grace in Christ Jesus are born again. When you were born again, the Holy Spirit was placed in you.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Vine and Branches

Classic Christianity Radio (03-06-19) – Classic Christianity Part 3

Bob George explains how we have the need for meaning and purpose in our life. We look to find fulfillment in life through things in this world that we think satisfy, but then find ourselves dependent or controlled by such things, and find that we are never completely satisfied. We ultimately found ourselves dependent on people or things for needs that can only be met through Jesus Christ.

Bob George explains our need of unconditional love and acceptance. We want others to love us. If you looked at 1 Corinthians 13, and demanded your spouse to fulfill all those characteristics listed there, what kind of unrealistic expectations are you putting on your spouse? Yet, we try to control others to ensure our needs are met and are woefully disappointed. We have unmet expectations, and in so doing we attempt to control other people to ensure our needs are met. You cannot get other people to produce these characteristics. We try to get that need of unconditional love and acceptance met by others but that is a spiritual need that can only be met by Jesus Christ.

Bob George explains how we cannot even live the Christian life because we never could.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
