Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P39 (11-03-21)

Receive Jesus and His Eternal Life in You and His Righteousness Imputed to You

What transpired at the Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus reveals who Jesus is and what He came to do. Jesus is God, He died in our place in order to give us eternal life. He came to be a king of a new kingdom not of this world, for His kingdom is to be lived within you, His righteousness imputed to you.

As you read again in the gospel of John, in John 18:28-40, where Jesus appears on trial before Pontius Pilate, with the kinds of questions Jesus is asked and His answer, and the unbelievable hypocrisy of the Jewish leaders, and the willingness of the Roman rulers to be so complicit in what ultimately led to His crucifixion, what insight, what understanding can you glean as to who Jesus is and His purpose on this earth? Can you come to a conclusion on not only what he died for but what He came for, as it relates to the meaning of not only the cross but also the resurrection?

Have You Understood the Complete Gospel in All Its Fullness?

Many times people have heard a gospel as merely getting your sins forgiven. To have your sins forgiven is a necessary part of the gospel to be given, but it is at best a partial gospel. Yes, it is good news to know that your sins are forgiven. But as good as that is, to know your sins are forgiven and that there is no more sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 10:16-18, 1 John 2:2 NASB), the full and complete gospel is that God sent Jesus to die for your sins in order to give you new life through His resurrection, to live His life in and through you. True salvation is not merely getting your sins forgiven but the receiving of new spiritual life in you, God’s life.

Romans 5:10
¹⁰ For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Correcting False Teaching to Help People Grow in Grace

Listen as Bob George addresses questions from callers that are common teaching in Christendom that is erroneous teaching. Such teaching, such as dispensationalism, as if there are different gospels for Jews and Gentiles, and this election and freewill from reformed theology, that God chooses certain people for heaven and others for hell, has caused such harm to the body of Christ. People are living in error and are not walking in the freedom that Christ has set us free. Now people ask these questions because they have been taught this but are beginning to think that these teachings just do not seem correct, and want clarification of understanding.

Other times people are calling because they are young believers and are just now on this path of growing in grace. For example, a Muslim lady left her Muslim religion, having been born again, but now is wondering where to go to hear truth. Bob encourages her to meet with believers who understand the New Covenant we live under today. Getting Common Questions Answered; Receiving Forgiveness of Sins that Has Already Been Done by Jesus; What About the Rapture and Cremation; Why Is the World Getting Worse; How Do You Introduce the Gospel to People

Many times people call the radio program to get clarification on this topic of forgiveness because wherever they go they hear so much on this interpretation on 1 John 1:9, that says that when you sin you must confess your sin to stay in fellowship with God. They may have also heard it said that you need to keep short accounts with God, so as soon as you sin you need to confess that sin to get forgiveness from God. Some pastors will call that parental or experiential sin in contrast to those positional sins that Jesus forgave at the cross so we can have this so-called positional standing with God.

All of this is double-talk, not in accordance with the meaning of the word of God, in conflict with so many other passages of scripture that clearly explain what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
