God Judges On Truth

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P11 (11-12-19)

Synopsis

Follow along in Romans 2, and let the Lord teach you through his word. Let Him teach you about your condition of spiritual death. Let him teach you about misplaced dependency. Become born again and learn to depend on Christ. That is where obedience comes from. We love because he first loved us. Consider the fact that God created all there is, and he created you. He knows how you were designed to function. So let us ask Him how we are to live. To live is Christ and to die is gain. Let us learn what that means.

The best illustration of how God designed us to live is what Jesus taught us in John 15, about the vine and the branches. Jesus also demonstrated love, walked in love. He showed us, as a man born into this world, how man is to function. Jesus only did what he saw his Father doing. He did exactly what His Father told him to do and what His Father told him to say and how to say. He became obedient to death, death on a cross, for you and me. That was … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

A Righteousness From God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P6 (10-30-19)

Synopsis

Bob George continues sharing from the key passage of Romans 1:16-17. In the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed that is by faith from first to last, and is the power of God unto salvation for all who will believe. When you believe the gospel, accept Christ as your life, you are able to communicate with the living God, to know His love and to know and love Him. There are only two types of righteousness, self righteousness, which is really no righteousness at all, and God’s righteousness. The righteousness of God is revealed by the Holy Spirit, who is drawing all men to Himself.

If a man thinks he has righteousness of his own, by what he does or fails to do, then he is only comparing himself with others. Only two things can occur. You see yourself as better or worse than someone else. You are either puffed up in pride or are overcome with self condemnation. Either way, you are bound by deception and enslaved to sin. That is really what happens in religion. You have to have rules and regulations, and that just keeps you in … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Said God Alone is Good

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 80 (10-02-19)

Transcript

Let us join Bob now as he gets started with today’s lesson. This morning before we get into the actual teaching in John 18 is to go back and review chronology of what took place in those last days of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In order to do that we need to go back to chapter 13. Jesus Christ was getting ready to meet with his disciples for the last major instruction to them and we have all of that instruction contained in chapter 13, where he taught the disciples of servitude. The washing of the disciples feet was an act of servitude on their behalf.

He then predicted his betrayal, or it is probably better to say he announced his betrayal, and that this was not something that was going to come by accident, but it was something that was known in the heart of God, and he told him about that.

He also at that time predicted to Peter, who basically was I believe as sincere as a heart attack in about everything he did, but he was like a lot of us. He was rambunctious … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

New Creation in Christ Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 53 (07-31-19)

Synopsis

As you read through the gospel of John, you cannot help but notice the different responses to Jesus’ actions and words. There were many Jews who believed in him and later there were thousands of Jews who came to new life in Christ at Pentecost. Fifty days after Jesus ascended to his Father in heaven, he had told the Jews to wait in Galilee to receive the Holy Spirit. When someone receives the Holy Spirit, they are saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Jesus.

When someone receives the Holy Spirit, he is said to be born again, having the life of Christ in him. He is also called a new creation, having the mind of Christ. Only then is a person able to discern the things of God. That is why when you read John 12:16, the disciples could not understand what God came to do.

John 12:16
16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that

Remove the Grave Clothes

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 52 (07-30-19)

Synopsis

Jesus has just raised Lazarus from the dead. Here is Jesus, God in the flesh, looking beyond the immediate situation, knowing the deepest need of man. Yet man is so naturally selfish. He is really only concerned about his immediate problem. Natural man is not so concerned if someone else’s mother dies. But if his own mother dies, then he is concerned. God looks beyond the immediate need. He looks at the needs of the entire world. God looks at those needs and says, “I will cause all things to work together for the good of those who love God and have been called according to his purpose. I will not make bad good.” That is why we can praise God in all things. We have that promise from Christ Jesus.

Martha, the sister of Lazarus who is lying dead in a tomb with a stone rolled in front of the entrance says to Jesus, “But Jesus, there is a strong odor. He has been in their for over 4 days.” Jesus tells her, “Did I not tell you, that if you believed, you will see the glory of God?” … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Are You a Professor or a Possessor of Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P442 (5-23-19)

Holley called to ask about Hebrews 6:4-6. She asked what it means to be partakers of the Holy Spirit. Bob explained the finality of the cross. The passage, in context, is directed to those who never repented of their unbelief in Jesus in the first place, going back to the day of atonement for the forgiveness of sins, making a mockery of the cross and insulting the Spirit of grace. Dominic asked about the meaning of Revelation 3:5. Is everyone in the book of life and then certain people blotted out? Bob explained that anyone who does not have life is not born again. So only those who have life, the Holy Spirit living them, is ever in the book of life. This passage is a terrific encouragement to believers on the assurance of salvation. Adam called to ask the meaning of the vine and the branches in John 15. Bob explained the meaning of this passage in context of those living under the Old Covenant, the Jews, and those of us today, living under a New Covenant, while explaining that Jesus lived under the old while explaining the new. Bob … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
