Synopsis

It is wonderful to have a friend to talk to or a person to call on the phone for the answers to life for those things that are bothering you. For a person who is struggling with understanding what the unpardonable sin is, whether he committed it or not, and seems to not have a firm grasp on truth, it is good for him to feel free and to be able to call someone up to get answers to those questions. They are important questions that have answers in the scriptures.

Or, if you are a parent, and you see your young child go off to college, but are disturbed by the choices he is making that could destroy his life, and you want advice to know how to help him now, because you love him. You want to get guidance on how to relate to him now, no longer as a parent since he is grown, but to be available to guide him because you love him. To be available to call to get such advice is a wonderful privilege.

It is so vitally important to grow in discernment, in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Otherwise, you are so easily led astray by every wind and doctrine. Things can look good on the surface, sort of like the tree in the garden of Eden, that looks pleasing to the eye, having an appearance of wisdom, but leads to destruction. Such is the case that goes on even more so in the world today, as Jesus told us, to let no man deceive you. You have every religion that seems to be merging into one, with mysticism, tongues of fire, song lyrics without truth to them, catering to the emotions and to the flesh.

A person calls in and says they see nothing wrong with being involved in a Catholic service. How do you know they teach error? Read the word of God, and allow the Spirit to teach you truth. If you are born again, then the Lord will teach you. We are continuing in our study on Faith, Hope and Love. Now, in regards to belief and faith, they are different. Belief is based on what is in your head, information, but faith is what you put in your heart, a conviction you live by, and is based on truth. Belief is memorizing something, and even talking about it, but it would be like a parrot merely repeating what it heard. Now faith is a conviction of the heart, with solid convictions formed in you. Faith produces attitudes of the heart. You can place your faith on either a faulty foundation or a firm foundation. If you see a broken chair, you know it will not hold you up. If you see a solid chair, you can place your faith by sitting down on that chair. Your faith is made evident by your action. You live by your faith, the firm convictions and attitudes formed in you by what you know to be true, and are persuaded of and convinced of.

Sometimes we can get all bogged down worrying about whether someone is going to be saved. We shared the truth with him and we want him to be saved. But we have to learn what God’s role is and what our role is. One man waters, another plants, but God causes the growth. Ultimately, man has a free will. There are people who have heard the message of the gospel, but they do not want it. They are stubborn. We cannot make anyone want to listen. It is their free choice. It does no good to get all worried about that. Indeed, worry is sin. So let it go. Shake the dust off your feet and move on. Acknowledge that that worry is sin, praise God for His forgiveness of sin already, and thank Him for His great mercy and kindness to you.

Synopsis

It takes time to grow and mature in Christ. Oftentimes, when you have been a Christian awhile, you will hear common questions being asked by many people, generation after generation. Certain verses or passages of scripture, when not understood in its context, in the totality of the cross, of being made complete in Christ, being under a New Covenant, not under an Old Covenant, you are likely to have a faulty interpretation of scripture. The key to understanding, first of all, is to be born again of the Spirit. Assuming that is so, then you have the mind of Christ, and the Spirit will lead you into truth.

The problem that many people have is that they rely on denominational persuasions of men. They listen to too many preachers out there, and do not get into the word of God themselves. Ask the Spirit of God to reveal the meaning of the word of God to you. He is the only one you can rely on to reveal the truth, the meaning of the word of God, to you.

You are growing in grace, but you sense in your Spirit that you are not really experiencing all that God wants for you. You read about the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-24, and you ask yourself, “Am I really experiencing those things in my life?” If you are not, you ask yourself, “Why not? What is preventing me from experiencing what is truly life; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control?”
