Resurrection

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P18 (03-17-21)

Synopsis

As was prophesied through the prophet Jeremiah, and explained more thoroughly in the book of Hebrews, we live today under a new covenant. Jeremiah and Jesus both lived under an old covenant. While Jesus was on this earth, He lived under an old covenant while speaking about a new covenant to come. He initiated a new covenant, or new will, after His death on a cross. Just as we have a will today that only goes into effect after the person living dies, so too with this new covenant Jesus spoke about, that also the writer of Hebrews explains.

The old covenant was one of law, like a tutor to those under the law until Christ should come to fulfill the law. No man could fulfill all the just requirements of the law. This law required perfection and if anyone failed at just one point, he was guilty of breaking all of it. The reason for that is because anything that does not come from faith is sin, and the wages of sin is death. Even the inward thoughts and attitudes of man are sin, such … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Truth Sets You Free

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P2 (02-09-21)

Synopsis

Do you have a plumbline to gauge whether something is true? The word of God is the plumbline for truth, to gauge our lives so that we are not ensnared and trapped in error in our thinking but can submit to God and resist the lie and live in truth. The battle in the world today, as in Jesus day, and since the beginning of time, has been the battle for the mind. That is where temptation starts.

Temptation is getting you to doubt what God has said, to doubt that God has the best in mind for you, and to believe that someone other than God has the answers to life, that someone else can give you what you need rather than God, or that you can meet your own needs and live independently of God, or even that He is not God. Satan has so deceived mankind that we have become slaves to the god of this world, who is Satan, where we experience so much heartache and pain.

Jesus came as the living word, living like a man, even though He is God, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

The Holy Spirit Will Lead You in All Truth

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P6 (04-29-20)

Synopsis

Do people really understand what faith is? Is faith something you concentrate on for God to do something, that you could cause God to act? No, that would put you in the position of the initiator. We were born dead, and now as a born again believer, apart from Him we can do nothing. We are responders. We respond to what he has already done, and in what he has said and has already given. You have been given everything you need for life and godliness. That does not mean you live in independent from God.

2 Peter 1:3
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Adam chose to live independently of God, and that is how sin and death entered the world, and so all men died. Now, as a child of God, a new creation, we learn to walk in dependency upon someone who loves us perfectly, in the one who created us and knows how we were meant to function, with the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Baptism and the Lords Supper

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P419 (3-01-19)

[player id=’1449907′]

Bob George RadioBob George answers the common questions asked by people wanting to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several callers asked about baptism. What is the difference between water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Bob explained that the baptism that saves is faith in the resurrection in Jesus Christ. He explains how water baptism is a symbol of what happened when someone is born again spiritually and placed into the body of Christ. Water baptism does not place you in the body of Christ. Churches might teach that water baptism places you in their local body, but water baptism can take place anywhere and is a public testimony of someone’s spiritual birth, a visual picture of what Christ alone did for him. You go under the water identifying with Christ’s death and come out of the water symbolizing that you are made into a new creation in Christ. In water baptism, you are testifying as being a part of the body of Christ, by spiritual baptism, having put your faith in what Christ alone has done for you in His resurrection.
