Listen as Bob George answers questions from various callers across the country. A pastor said that in Deuteronomy 22:5 that it is sin for a woman to put pants on. Why would someone say that?Deuteronomy 22:5 5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.Whoever that guy is ought to get a life. Back in those days, men wore robes, which would be called like a dress, or floppy pants. What is he doing in Deuteronomy anyways? If he knew the Lord, he would be in the New Covenant. If the guy is lost, what is anyone doing listening to him, if he is lost. The last thing I would want to listen to is a lost pastor. People pick and choose verses they want to speak on and take it out of context. That happens quite often among those who are lost, devoid of spiritual understanding. They live by the letter of the law, and that kills and does not give life. Synopsis
Often times people have called into the Classic Christianity radio program with questions to help them know how to apply teaching or to get clarification on teaching they have heard that seems to conflict with what the Lord is beginning to teach them. Others simply call to thank Bob for the teaching of truth that has helped them to walk free of legalistic teaching, and want to encourage Bob to continue teaching truth. More often than not, Bob will explain more thoroughly about the New Covenant we are under. Often times people will read something out of the gospels, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, or the book of Acts, and struggle understanding what it means. The starting point to understand truth is to first of all be born again, having the Spirit of God living in you. Then as you read God’s word, you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. The common mistakes people make are to read one scripture verse, taken out of its context, and try to explain or make up what it means. When we are born again, we have become a new creation. As we study God’s word, letting the Spirit reveal truth to us, we just cannot help but thank God for His amazing grace, with total unconditional acceptance and love. We have truly been made complete in Christ. All of us have been taught things, error from our former life, that often carry with us in our new life in Christ until our minds are renewed with truth. Many times we can remain in error for much of our life because we fail to study God’s word or remain in a church that reinforces false teaching. So many people get caught up in the burden of having to tithe, as if tithing is for today. They are told that if they are not tithing they are robbing God. One common question that gets asked quite often is about how the law of Moses applies to us today. Well, if you are a lost person, then it still applies to you to lead you to Christ, for that is the purpose of the law. The law was added so man might recognize he is a sinner, and then understand his condition of death to God, so that he might to Christ to receive new life. Otherwise, the cross of Christ has no meaning to him. The law of Moses was written on stone and is a ministry of death and condemnation. That is, the law is like a mirror, to tell you what your problem is. Although it was glorious, though fading, it does not compare to the glorious ministry of righteousness that Jesus gives to those who are born again. Callers asked questions in regards to tithing, baptism, honoring your parents and not exasperating your children, and receiving instruction and training in the Lord. To those new in Christ, baptism can be a foreign concept, not understood. Sadly, so many have taught tithing for today, which should not be. Then there are those practical matters that are sometimes confusing to you as to how to live in this new way of life that you received.
To those who have been under almost any pastor in Christendom today, you have been told that you are to give the first ten percent to God, and that if you do not, then you are told that you robbing God. But is that what the word of God instructs us to do, who are not under law but under grace? No!
So many pastors today have pounded on tithing for today, which is clearly wrong, when one understands the teaching of Paul in 2 Corinthians on New Testament giving. So many call out of guilt or confusion.
