Synopsis

Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. So, in many cases, a renewing of the mind has to occur so people can grab a hold of truth.

Turn to 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11, Ephesians 6, and Galatians 5:5-6. We are going to learn more about this faith, hope and love. We will see this connection of faith to putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6, so we can stand against the powers of darkness, of evil forces, in heavenly places. Much of what the apostle Paul lists is defensive armor, which we put on so we can stand, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the feet shodded with the gospel of peace, and other spiritual truth Paul illustrates with the armor on a Roman soldier.

This faith, hope and love is the triplicate that sticks together like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the Trinity. Indeed, Christ Jesus is our only hope, who initiated this love to us so that we can enter this blessed hope in which we now stand. We enter in by faith. The same faith that we exercise so that Christ Jesus came to dwell in us by His Spirit is the same faith in which we live day to day. Christ in you is your only hope of glory. That same faith that you had exercised to be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light is the same faith God wants us to exercise every day. Several passages of scripture makes this clear. Colossians 2:6-7 and Philippians 2:12-13 are examples. Faith in Him produces His work in and through you and me. Faith is a Responder to the Grace of God

Synopsis

So these three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Although we cannot produce love, in Christ we have been given the privilege to participate in the divine nature. We participate in the divine nature by abiding in Christ, trusting him to do through us what we could never do, as Jesus explained to us in John 15. So this love is to reach out to people, to share the message of Christ, to serve in the spiritual gifts God has given us, to serve the body, to give a cup of water in the name of Christ, and any of those things God has led us to do by the Spirit He has given us.

We have been made a new creation in Christ, so this labor is prompted by the love of God that has been poured into our hearts, imploring every man to be made complete in Christ. Synopsis

Jesus walked on this earth to come to his own, to show them that he is the Messiah that was to come into this world but his own did not receive him. But to those who did receive him he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believed in his name.

Jesus identified himself as the good shepherd. He is the shepherd for his sheep. The sheep are those who hear his voice and believe that he is the savior of the world, the one who gives life to men. He came first for the Jew and then the Gentile. The Gentiles later too heard the message along with some Jews and believed and were saved. Jesus all along came to make one new body, the Ecclesia, out of the two.

Jesus also identified himself as the gate, the only way by which man can be saved. We are learning about this man named Jesus. People call in on a radio, talking about different names of God, some saying, “Praise Yeshua”. There are all kinds of names of God. Some call him Elohim. The Jehovah Witnesses call him Jehovah and the Muslims call him Allah, but if you look at their description and compare what they say to what is written and revealed by the Spirit, they are pointing to a different Jesus or someone who does not fit the description of the same God recorded in the bible. There are different names that can point to the person, Jesus, and will fit the description as revealed to us by the Spirit. The name of Yeshua points to Jesus. I do not care who you call him. It means who the name belongs to. People get all caught up in what the name is in Hebrew. We get all caught up in incidentals.
