Correcting False Teaching to Help People Grow in Grace

Listen as Bob George addresses questions from callers that are common teaching in Christendom that is erroneous teaching. Such teaching, such as dispensationalism, as if there are different gospels for Jews and Gentiles, and this election and freewill from reformed theology, that God chooses certain people for heaven and others for hell, has caused such harm to the body of Christ. People are living in error and are not walking in the freedom that Christ has set us free. Now people ask these questions because they have been taught this but are beginning to think that these teachings just do not seem correct, and want clarification of understanding.

Other times people are calling because they are young believers and are just now on this path of growing in grace. For example, a Muslim lady left her Muslim religion, having been born again, but now is wondering where to go to hear truth. Bob encourages her to meet with believers who understand the New Covenant we live under today. Getting Common Questions Answered; Receiving Forgiveness of Sins that Has Already Been Done by Jesus; What About the Rapture and Cremation; Why Is the World Getting Worse; How Do You Introduce the Gospel to People

Many times people call the radio program to get clarification on this topic of forgiveness because wherever they go they hear so much on this interpretation on 1 John 1:9, that says that when you sin you must confess your sin to stay in fellowship with God. They may have also heard it said that you need to keep short accounts with God, so as soon as you sin you need to confess that sin to get forgiveness from God. Some pastors will call that parental or experiential sin in contrast to those positional sins that Jesus forgave at the cross so we can have this so-called positional standing with God.

All of this is double-talk, not in accordance with the meaning of the word of God, in conflict with so many other passages of scripture that clearly explain what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Let Truth set you Free and Learn to Walk in Grace

As a new believer, you will tend to have more of a struggle in overcoming sinful habits, and that is not unusual, as you are just now on the starting line of having your mind renewed. Even as you mature in Christ, you will continue in that process of having your mind renewed until the day we meet the Lord. We will all continue to battle the flesh, and God knows our weaknesses and tendencies. We are all reminded to guard our life and doctrine closely and take heed that we do not fall, and to be gentle and humble toward others, as we ourselves could easily get caught up in any sin ourselves. Along with allowing God to change us, our thinking and attitudes of heart, to let your actions be in accordance with who you are as a child of God, then your emotions will follow. You will no longer be miserable but experience the fruit of the Spirit God wants produce in you and through you. Learn to trust the mercy and grace of God. Christ in You Is Your Hope of Glory; No Matter What the Sin, God’s Grace is Greater; Let Us Live Under Grace Not Law

We can certainly celebrate the day of Pentecost, if we choose to do so, for that is the first time in history that Christ came to indwell men permanently. Prior to the cross, the Holy Spirit came upon people for divine service, but the Spirit could also leave because of sin. That is why David prayed for the Spirit to not depart from him after committing both adultery and murder (Psalm 51). We would not pray such a prayer today.

So, if you have committed adultery, are now divorced, and are wondering how to go on with your life, understand what God accomplished for you. So no matter what the sin, realize God’s grace is greater than all your sin. You can start living under grace and experience the best that God has for you.

2 Corinthians 5:19
God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

Many times people have questions that they want answers to but do not know who to call or talk to. So it is wonderful to have had a program like this where a person can call and get answers to their questions. The bible is true and is reliable for truth. At times a person will call in because they are in a conversation with a person who has a different bible than ours, such as Catholics which also have the Apocrypha included in it. Other times a person calls in to ask about what this judging another person is about. Another person calls in because he is troubled by what he sees as the trends in society, such as the acceptance of homosexuality as an alternative lifestyle or people saying they are born that way. Then there are those questions about whether a person dies before his time. Many times people have questions that they want answers to but do not know who to call or talk to. So it is wonderful to have had a program like this where a person can call and get answers to their questions. Sometimes a question can be about a brother who does not believe the New Testament is accurate and wants to help his brother have confidence that the bible is true and is reliable for truth. Other times a very young believer calls for questions on a passage of scripture he was reading or heard from a church he was visiting, and wants understanding or clarification. Sometimes the question is on how to pray for unsaved loved ones.

Bob shares that the bible is reliable because there are so many copies of them that were meticulously copied by those Israelite scribes. With the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls in recent history that is verifiable. But also by the fact that all those copies were written down within 40 years of the events.
