Synopsis

I heard on social media, where a person asked these sincere and honest questions. “I am often uncertain about what to say, when the great commission comes up in conversation. Do we all do street preaching? I hardly ever do that. (Been sometime since the last, a year! ) Is one to one witness whenever I can, enough? Is trying to show what Jesus preached in how I live, not part of it? Are we all missionaries? I was sent to mainland China but again, that was long ago. I do feel inadequate, at times. So when we talk of the great commission – what do you actually do?”

As I was thinking how to answer his questions, this is what God put on my heart to write. I think of this faith, hope and love that are ours in Christ Jesus, as God initiated that love to us first in Christ Jesus, whom he sent to this world so we might visually see what a person filled with the Holy Spirit looks like. Synopsis

Turn to 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11, Ephesians 6, and Galatians 5:5-6. We are going to learn more about this faith, hope and love. We will see this connection of faith to putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6, so we can stand against the powers of darkness, of evil forces, in heavenly places. Much of what the apostle Paul lists is defensive armor, which we put on so we can stand, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the feet shodded with the gospel of peace, and other spiritual truth Paul illustrates with the armor on a Roman soldier.

Since as children of God, we are no longer in darkness, and can see more clearly, not with physical eyes, but with spiritual eyes, and in truth. For the Holy Spirit is living in us, guiding us into all truth. Truth is what we stand on, the very words that proceed from the mouth of God. The truth revealed to us through the scriptures we hold in our hands is powerful to take down strongholds. Place Faith in Jesus Only

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P66 (04-08-20)

Synopsis

As we close in the last chapter of Romans, Paul writes a warning to us to be on guard against false prophets, against those who use flattery to draw disciples away after them, who claim to have special knowledge, of those who deny the humanity and deity of Christ. The false prophets today are the prosperity gospel teachers who teach godliness as a means to financial gain. The other false teachers are those who preach the tithe as a means to be blessed of God. We have the words of Jesus issuing the same warning, telling us ahead of time about this spirit of the anti-Christ that is already in the world. You have those anti-Christ religions, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, who deny Jesus is God, that you should stay away from. We have the writings of the apostle John, writings to help a pastor protect the people of God from the false prophets, the Gnostics in their midst, bringing destructive heresies. We have the words of Timothy and the apostles, warning us again and again to be on guard. Do not listen to those false prophets. Eternal Life From Death

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P64 (04-06-20)

Synopsis

If you are a child of God, which happened the moment you became born again, with the Spirit of God living in you, then you have a testimony of how you came to Christ. You know what you were thinking and what your heart was like before coming to Christ. You heard the message of Christ. You had an encounter with the living Christ. People cannot argue with a testimony. It is your story of how God began the process of changing you. You are not perfect, and you still fall short, but God imputed His righteousness to you. You have been made complete in Christ, made into a new creation, not based on anything you did or failed to do, but on the fact you trusted Christ alone for what he did for you. That is our testimony, of those who are in Christ Jesus.

We read about Paul’s testimony. And how in his testimony, what his former way of thinking was, a Pharisee of Pharisees, even giving approval to the stoning of Stephen. Do Not Harden Your Heart to Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P45 (02-19-20)

Synopsis

Although many people, among the Jews, rejected the message of the gospel, a remnant was saved. Many Jews did reject Christ Jesus as the Messiah. However, there is always a remnant that are willing to listen. The first people who came to Christ were Jewish people. Thousands heard the preaching of the apostle Peter, and the other apostles, and were saved. There are those who will have humble hearts, who will hear, believe and be saved.

Today, it seems, not many people want to listen to truth. Many people’s minds are made up, and do not realize the errors they have believed. They would rather hold on to their denominational belief system, but not test it out with the word of God to see if what is said is true. Few will even open a bible up to read it. I encourage you to read your bible, not to gather information, but to get to know the author, who is God. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to explain to you the meaning of it. Learn to ask questions of God. Jesus is The Good News

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P44 (02-18-20)

Synopsis

The Jew and the Gentile are saved the same way. What a revelation! They are saved by belief in the message concerning Christ Jesus, by grace through faith, all of God and not of anything we do. Grace is the gift of God and grace is Jesus. Jesus died to take away the cause of death, which is sin. That was preparation in order for life to be given. Jesus then rose again, and ascended back to His Father, in order to offer life to mankind. Anyone who accepts this message is born again, having been given the right to become children of God. That which was lost in the garden of Eden, the Spirit of God, can now be placed back into mankind. The Spirit of God left mankind and all men were born without the Spirit of God. When someone is born again, the Spirit of God is placed back into him. You are born again when you simply put your faith in what Jesus alone accomplished for you by his death, burial and resurrection. That is the gospel the apostle Paul proclaimed.
