Synopsis

Do people really understand what faith is? Is faith something you concentrate on for God to do something, that you could cause God to act? No, that would put you in the position of the initiator. We were born dead, and now as a born again believer, apart from Him we can do nothing. We are responders. We respond to what he has already done, and in what he has said and has already given. You have been given everything you need for life and godliness. That does not mean you live in independent from God.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Adam chose to live independently of God, and that is how sin and death entered the world, and so all men died. Synopsis

Have you ever wondered why someone you love is not acting like he is a Christian? He is born again, or so you thought, but his actions testify against him. Why is he going back to perverse behavior, behavior that only occurs among the heathen? There are two possible explanations. One he is not born again as you think he is, or he is born again, but is not paying any attention to God, and is acting in rebellion against truth. We cannot judge motives, but we can judge actions. So, if not certain of the evidence, then approach him in love, ask the questions that will draw him out, is your best option. You love him enough to tell him the truth. As a believer, we have the privilege to participate in the divine nature. That also means, we can choose to participate in the flesh. The flesh is contrary to the Spirit. We overcome the flesh by walking in the Spirit, putting to death the misdeeds of the body. Synopsis

If you are a child of God, which happened the moment you became born again, with the Spirit of God living in you, then you have a testimony of how you came to Christ. You know what you were thinking and what your heart was like before coming to Christ. You heard the message of Christ. You had an encounter with the living Christ. People cannot argue with a testimony. It is your story of how God began the process of changing you. You are not perfect, and you still fall short, but God imputed His righteousness to you. You have been made complete in Christ, made into a new creation, not based on anything you did or failed to do, but on the fact you trusted Christ alone for what he did for you. That is our testimony, of those who are in Christ Jesus.

We read about Paul’s testimony. And how in his testimony, what his former way of thinking was, a Pharisee of Pharisees, even giving approval to the stoning of Stephen. Synopsis

God has come to live in us to will and to act according to His good purposes. When we insult a brother in Christ, we are really insulting Christ for whom Jesus died and rose again. He is a member of the body of Christ. Does it make sense to hurt your own body? No. So let us learn to encourage one another and do things that lead to peace and mutual edification. So God lives in us to form new attitudes of the heart. God deals with those things inside the heart that no one sees. Those wrong attitudes, if not corrected, is what leads to those outward actions that hurt one another.

God is our counselor. He is our teacher, our instructor. He renews our minds with truth. Truth is what displaces error, and if you have a critical spirit, then your mind needs to be renewed with truth. Do you not know you are a member of the body of Christ, and you are a part of the body? So why criticize the body? Why steal from your own body? Deuteronomy 22:5 5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this.
Whoever that guy is ought to get a life. Back in those days, men wore robes, which would be called like a dress, or floppy pants. What is he doing in Deuteronomy anyways? If he knew the Lord, he would be in the New Covenant. If the guy is lost, what is anyone doing listening to him, if he is lost. The last thing I would want to listen to is a lost pastor. People pick and choose verses they want to speak on and take it out of context. That happens quite often among those who are lost, devoid of spiritual understanding. They live by the letter of the law, and that kills and does not give life. There are questions that people in church ask, such as what about the unpardonable sin or falling away after hearing truth, as in an improper understanding of Hebrews, where people think they can lose salvation. There are questions asked, even church-going people, such as whether premarital sex is sin. There are questions people ask about the second coming of Christ, but are getting tripped up over simple things they have heard that are simply not true.
