Jesus is The Truth Setting You Free

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P707 (02-10-22)

Understanding the Truth of What Christ has Done When we Celebrate the Lord’s Supper

You may have been to church for decades, not realizing the error you have been taught. Someone asks you, “Do you believe in the atoning blood of Jesus? Bob would respond by saying, “No, I don’t. He did not come to atone for sin. He came to take it away.” Words have meaning, and they have meaning in the context they are used in scripture.

Depending on your religious background, an improper understanding of the meaning of words can hinder you from understanding the truth of what Jesus Christ has done for you. Have you been raised in a church that emphasized the passion of Christ and heard the expression, “Holy Communion”? There is nothing holy about communion, of a wafer that you ingest into your body. In many people’s minds, grace has the concept of something you receive by participating in a sacrament, or from an action of a priest on your behalf, such as sprinkling of what is said to be holy water.

And even the word salvation has different meaning to different people. Some have never heard the word, and simply respond by asking, “Saved from what?”… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Promised the Holy Spirit

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P681 (10-21-21)

Christ in You Is Your Hope of Glory; No Matter What the Sin, God’s Grace is Greater; Let Us Live Under Grace Not Law

We can certainly celebrate the day of Pentecost, if we choose to do so, for that is the first time in history that Christ came to indwell men permanently. Prior to the cross, the Holy Spirit came upon people for divine service, but the Spirit could also leave because of sin. That is why David prayed for the Spirit to not depart from him after committing both adultery and murder (Psalm 51). We would not pray such a prayer today.

So, if you have committed adultery, are now divorced, and are wondering how to go on with your life, understand what God accomplished for you. So no matter what the sin, realize God’s grace is greater than all your sin. You can start living under grace and experience the best that God has for you.

2 Corinthians 5:19
God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

The issue is that that was for the entire world but that is not salvation.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P28 (12-14-20)

Synopsis

As we ponder over the prophecies from Isaiah concerning the events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, we are amazed at the precise details and how they were all fulfilled in the person of Christ Jesus. We know about this because there were eyewitnesses of these things, who wrote down all they saw and heard. These were the disciples of Jesus, primarily Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Jesus Took Away All Sins on The Cross

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P27 (12-09-20)

Synopsis

If you enjoy history, and you had the opportunity of seeing people in Israel, seeing the Roman coliseums, seeing the Jews dressed in the style of clothing that you see pictures of in the history books, it makes an impression on you. Now consider that the Jews living back then saw Jesus just like any other man. Jesus came in appearance as a man, and if it were not for the overwhelming evidence, it would be difficult to believe someone claiming Himself to be God. How much harder would it have been for them?

Yet, the same is true today as it was then. If any man desires to know God, God will reveal Himself to him and make Himself known to him. But if a man wants to rely on his religion, then his heart will not be open to truth, and that is so sad.

Today, we have the scriptures recorded down for us by those who were eyewitnesses of Christ Jesus, who saw all that happened concerning Jesus of Nazareth, and who also had the scriptures of the prophets. Today, we can compare what was spoken through the Old Testament prophets with what the disciples, eyewitnesses of Jesus, wrote down.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Prophecy Fulfilled for Your Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P26 (12-08-20)

Synopsis

As we continue in our study, we now turn to look at a more magnified look at the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. We have a prophecy from the psalmist David, in Psalm 22, some thousand years before the event of his crucifixion ever occurred. Through this prophecy we gain insight into who Jesus is and why He came. The disciples of Jesus, both Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, record what they observed actually happen at the foot of the cross, concerning Jesus last words, as he hung there on a cross for you and me.

Recall also what Jesus told his disciples after his resurrection, as he walked on earth for many days.

Luke 24:44
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

This alone tells you that Jesus said he fulfilled what was spoken in the Psalms concerning himself, and how that had to happen that way. In other words, this was just not some tragic unexpected event that happened to Jesus.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is The Resurrection and The Life - Believe in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P25 (12-07-20)

Synopsis

Let us now look more closely at the crucifixion, that period of time in history where Jesus died, was buried and three days later rose again. Many people focus so much on the birth of Christ, and nothing wrong with that, and we thank God for his birth. And we even have a holiday where that is the primary focus. But from God’s vantage point that is not the most important focus. God came to do something, that if we do not fully comprehend the meaning, we miss out, putting it mildly, on what we so desperately need, eternal life.

The death, burial and resurrection are the fundamental elements of the gospel, the message of good news, that Paul addressed in his letter to the Corinthians. The true dividing line of human history is the cross, dividing history from under the law, under an Old Covenant, before the cross, to being under grace, under a New Covenant with mankind, after the cross. God has established a new will, a new covenant, with man, with an eternal inheritance, to those who are in his will, and that by faith in Him, receiving what He came to give you, eternal life.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
