Synopsis

If you have ever seen someone come to know the Lord for the first time, and had the privilege to share about Jesus to them, family or friends, then you can tell about what joy and delight that is to see. Maybe you have never seen anyone in your family or even any friend come to the Lord, but you are sharing the word of God. We have to trust in God that when His word goes out, it does not return void. For some of you, that could be twenty or more years, and still you see no fruit of the labor. Nevertheless, we leave it in the hands of God. To God belong the results, in His timing. We do not need to force the message. It is a practical message, that man is dead and in need of life, with a message of great news, that Jesus provided that need of life as a gift to be received by faith, yet it can take time for people to process, some longer than others. Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P18 (03-17-21)

Synopsis

As was prophesied through the prophet Jeremiah, and explained more thoroughly in the book of Hebrews, we live today under a new covenant. Jeremiah and Jesus both lived under an old covenant. While Jesus was on this earth, He lived under an old covenant while speaking about a new covenant to come. He initiated a new covenant, or new will, after His death on a cross. Just as we have a will today that only goes into effect after the person living dies, so too with this new covenant Jesus spoke about, that also the writer of Hebrews explains.

The old covenant was one of law, like a tutor to those under the law until Christ should come to fulfill the law. No man could fulfill all the just requirements of the law. This law required perfection and if anyone failed at just one point, he was guilty of breaking all of it. The reason for that is because anything that does not come from faith is sin, and the wages of sin is death. Sometimes we get bogged down in our daily lives, being bombarded with legalism or teaching that just weighs us down. The day to day mundane things we do just seems to weigh us down at times. But to know that the time we ourselves get alone with the Lord, letting Him teach us the meaning of the word of God, and see the work God is doing in us. Then, as we simply share truth that has been revealed to us, that truth not only changes our own lives, but it overflows into the lives of others. That makes living so worthwhile.

Listen as Bob George shares with a young seminary student getting bogged down in his studies in theology that seems to distract him from being taught by the Holy Spirit. At times even, incorrect teaching is being told him, and he also feels this push towards legalism. Bob shares truth with him to help him to keep focused on being taught of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Has Taken Away Your Sins Once For All

What is the purpose of the book of Hebrews? Have you ever heard a sermon on it? It is so valuable to understand the New Covenant we are living under today. Oftentimes the only passage people have heard about from Hebrews are Hebrews 6:4, and without understanding the entire context of what the author of Hebrews is writing about, people get all fearful that they are deliberately sinning, meaning they have committed one of the nasty nine or one of the dirty dozen, that they are going to be cast into a raging fire. So what do people do? They pull out their 1 John 1:9 and ask God to forgive them of their sins.

First of all, one must understand the totality of the cross. When the Jew is going back to the day of atonement, killing a bull or a goat, to get his sins forgiven, or the Catholic is going to the confessional booth to get his sins forgiven, or the Protestant is going direct to God to get his sins forgiven, quoting 1 John 1:9 out of context, what are they doing? In this day and age, with this so-called pandemic that disrupted our lives, many people are beginning to wonder what church is? Is it really a building you go to? And when you go to that building, listening to a pastor preach, what were you being taught? Do you feel guilt-ridden, that you do not measure up to some standard? Are you told that whenever you sin, you are out of fellowship with God? Listen as callers ask these kinds of questions, and are looking for answers to what it means to be a Christian. How is a Christian supposed to live? Is it supposed to be burdensome or are you supposed to experience love, peace and joy?

Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A Baptist pastor teaches what he has been taught from a Baptist seminary. So too, a Presbyterian minister teaches what he has been taught from a Presbyterian seminary. And so too with the Methodists and the Catholics. They are taught to depend on what man tells them rather than depending on the Holy Spirit to reveal to them the meaning of the word of God.

Sadly, none of these denominations agree, and they continue to repeat error, generation after generation. So, the church is in sad shape, and often those who know the truth are compelled to leave because they would be silenced or isolated, called out as being divisive, because what people hear, the truth, is contrary to what they have been taught by men, and they will not or are unable to accept what you say, expounding on the scriptures, from what the Spirit has taught you as truth.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
