The topic of prayer comes up in conversation with people many times today. People are told to pray this or pray that in corporate settings. Some are even telling people on television or radio to send their money in for their prayers to be heard by God, as though God is going to answer your prayers based on you sending money to someone else. Different groups of people have different ideas about prayer too. Most everyone today is focused on getting their prayer requests answered by God, and not listening to what God has to say to them in the first place. They are becoming their own god, as though they can push God’s buttons to do something based on something they say or do themselves. Context is Important for Proper Understanding of the Word of God

Context of scripture is key to understanding the Word of God. We are all guilty at times for glossing over key parts of the bible and tend to base our analysis of a verse of scripture here or there, based on our own understanding or those traditions that have been taught to us by other men. Bob George would say repeatedly, “don’t believe what I say, but check it out for yourself in the word of God.” He emphasized that he could be saying something wrong himself and to be a Berean and go back and verify things. Ultimately, trust in the Holy Spirit to teach you the meaning of the word of God.

First off, it is important to understand that the Apostle Paul was an Israelite. We tend to overlook the obvious so many times in scripture. So when Paul speaks of two different groups of people he is speaking in terms of the Israelites of being under the Old Covenant, and now Gentiles and Israelites in the New Covenant as one group of people. How to Live by Faith

We often hear stories that when a person comes to Christ Jesus, and becomes a believer, that everything will be peaches and cream in their life. There are people that will teach you all kinds of lies in regards to worldly wealth or think and grow rich, as though Jesus is the name it and claim it, the go to God for everything in this life to be happy, wealthy and wise, and everyone will just love you for being a Christian. However, if a person is a witness for Christ Jesus, they may face persecution from the world. But fear not, for Jesus who is alive living in you, is greater than he that is in the world.

The first caller, Bob called from Denver Colorado. He became a Christian and lost all of his secular friends. He also lost a job, due to timing issues. He was feeling a bit down and wanted to be pointed in the right direction with some scripture verses.

Many times people want to go get “higher learning” in the area of bible study. So they up and go to seminary, and end up trusting in man to teach them the meaning of the word of God instead of trusting in the Holy Spirit, alive, living in the believer. The bible is unique in that we read the word of God to learn more about Jesus. Yet people refuse to come to Jesus for life. Join Bob George as he addresses these topics and others on the air.

The first caller, Bobby called from San Diego California, after coming to a proper understanding the forgiveness message. Yet, he was going to a bible college and felt like his life was becoming more legalistic under the teachings of men.

With so much religion talk in the world today, including that of Christianity, there is a teaching in both Catholic and Protestant churches that you have to keep going back to God to get your sins forgiven. The Catholic goes to the confession booth to a priest and the Protestant goes to their own virtual confession booth and continually asks for forgiveness of sins. These people are making a mockery of the cross. They have never repented in their understanding of what Jesus did on the cross for them. They keep pushing Jesus back up there and asking Jesus for what He has already done. Many many people refuse to believe in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Join Bob George as he answers these questions and others on the air.
