We Have The Mind of Christ Jesus

Classic Christianity – Christmas P1 (12-21-20)

Synopsis

In this world, we can begin to see terrible events unfold. We can certainly see clearly this conflict between good and evil. The degree of that will depend, to some extent, what exposure you have to sources of information concerning current world events, for there is also so much fake news and misinformation.

Nevertheless, we tend to see these horrible things happening as something unusual, yet the Lord tells us that evildoers will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. We tend to forget what the Lord has told us, and can let ourselves be overcome with fear. But God tells us to keep our focus on Him, to continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of. Of all people, we, as children of God, should hold out hope. We should testify of the hope we have within us. We should be full of joy and peace, as we allow God, who is living in us, to bear that fruit in our lives.

But we all need encouragement. We are instructed to meet with like-minded believers, and all the more so, as we see the time of the end of the age approaching.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

We all struggle in growing in Christ, learning how to overcome worry and all kinds of sin, and how to make wise decisions in those difficult things of life. Much of our struggle is because we are leaning on our understanding, trying to work things out in the energy of our flesh, or are focusing, not on Christ, but our circumstances and surroundings, and letting the voice of the world crowd out truth. Our mind has drifted from focusing on Christ to the thinking and pattern of the world.

It also takes time to grow. When you first come to Christ, it seems hard to navigate through the word of God and through the things you hear. You may not have the discernment yet to know what is right and what is wrong or what is the better choice. At times, you just do not know the truth, or lack the wisdom from God to know how to proceed. Yes, it is good to hear from mature believers in the Lord, to help you out. But ultimately, any human being can misguide you, because they may not know the truth themselves, are merely repeating what they heard from a denominational persuasion or even from ulterior motives, disguising themselves as a Christian, and twisting scriptures to mean something other than what it really means.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

If you have not already, get a copy of A Closer Look at Jesus Christ. We have studied the person of Jesus Christ, Who Did Jesus Christ Claim to Be?, A Madman or God in the Flesh. We read from the scriptures what Jesus claimed about Himself, that He is God. Then the question was asked, Who Do You Say that I Am?. If you have concluded that Jesus is God, and came to offer you eternal life, then an explanation was given of what it means to be Receiving the Offer of Life. Now we are studying What Others Claimed About Jesus Christ. So today we read what John the apostle said concerning Jesus Christ.

In summary, God sent Jesus into this world to save that which is lost. When someone is lost, it is good to know someone is looking for him. The person who is lost is mankind, each and every person born into this world. All of us were born into this world spiritually dead, and in need of new life, God’s life. Jesus is One With The Father

Synopsis

It is so important to know what salvation is, the condition of man under sin and death and in need of new life. This life is the Spirit of god to be placed into man, and has to come by receiving the offer of new life that Christ has now offered to all men, having died on a cross to take away the sins of the entire world and raised from the dead so as to always live to intercede for you. This salvation is not choosing the you’s and me’s but to whosoever believes in Him, both the Jew and the Gentile, to be saved the same way, by faith alone in what Christ Jesus alone accomplished for you.

As you look into the scriptures, there is no doubt that Jesus is who he claimed to be, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the promised Messiah, the “I am”, the one who said “I and the Father are one” and “if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.”. Synopsis

To really appreciate and understand this mystery, Christ in you, your hope of glory, that is for both the Jew and the Gentile, let us learn something about the background of who the Jews and the Gentiles were in the time period of the Old Testament, and of the time Jesus walked the earth until the day that the first Gentile received the Holy Spirit just like the Jews at Pentecost did. That mystery was not revealed until God revealed it to the apostle Paul. Even though the truth of that was in the heart of God, and there are even scriptures spoken through the prophets of a promised light unto the Gentiles, that was not understood. What Jew, who had the law and the prophets and the ceremonies and the traditions of Moses, could comprehend a Gentile coming to faith the same way as the Jew? Synopsis

It is quite often that people read a passage of scripture that just does not seem very clear to them. Other scriptures they have read makes them think they have not properly understood that passage of scripture. So they call in to get clarification and understanding. There are several passages of scripture that are frequently asked even today. There are these passages in Romans 8 about election and predestination, and there is a whole erroneous theology people have come up with on that. Then you have this passage in the time Jesus was walking the earth prior to the cross in John 20:22-23, where Jesus said to receive the Holy spirit and that if you do not forgive someone their sins they are not forgiven. Then you have the one in Hebrews 10:26-27, about sinning against the knowledge of truth and the expectation of raging fire that consumes the enemies of God. Many a person has incorrectly understood this to mean you can lose your salvation.

So oftentimes, when people grow up in false teaching and theology, it takes time to unravel all the things that they have been taught. They repeat what they have heard since childhood and believe them to be true.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
