Jesus Came to Set You Free

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P452 (7-04-19)

Bob received calls from several callers who heard error. These are the questions asked. Can I be in and out of fellowship with God? Have I committed the unpardonable sin? What about a young child or the handicapped or those who have never heard the gospel of salvation?

Dale called for clarification of truth from a pastor who spoke error concerning a believer being in and out of fellowship with God. He had incorrectly taught from the parable of the prodigal son from Luke 15 to explain a false teaching of being in and out of fellowship with God. Luke 15 is not talking about a believer but an unsaved lost son who received righteousness by faith and faith alone and an older brother who failed to receive that righteousness by faith. It is really a parable about the self righteous Jew and the non-seeking Gentile who hears the message of Christ, believes and is saved.

Mark calls on behalf of his 8 year old daughter concerning about what happens when young children die. Bob shared that for young children or the mentally handicapped, we just trust in God, who is … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

What is Salvation

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 41 (07-03-19)

Turn to the gospel of John.

Let us look at a passage of scripture so important to us that is so clear on what Jesus said in regards to salvation. Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Mankind has all kinds of opinions on what salvation is. Are you saved by going to a certain denomination? No! By doing enough good or avoiding too much bad? No!

Do you lean on your understanding? We all have that tendency. Do you rely on what man has told you? Do you look at the DaVinci code, the philosophies of men or science for the answer to life? Where is your source of truth and is it reliable? Is it from men or from God and how would you know?

Man has the tendency to rely on his own understanding for truth, which is the same error in the garden of Eden. Adam chose to find out for himself what is right and wrong and what is good and evil. He told God he did not … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Life Saves

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P446 (6-06-19)

Tony asked a question about false prophets, those men who say they heard from God. Nobody today is getting direct words from God. Those who prophecy today are proclaiming truth from the scriptures that have now been closed. The canon has been closed. Anyone proclaiming words of the Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses or the other cults is not a prophet.

Stacey asked about why Jesus was tempted when he is God and He is never tempted. Bob cleared up her misunderstanding. Someone can be presented the temptation to sin, but if you are perfect like God then that really is not a temptation to you. Sin was offered to Jesus by Satan is what is being said here but Jesus is not ever tempted by sin that he should sin. If I were offered a cigarette or drugs, I would walk away or turn it down because I never desired or was given to that kind of temptation.

Dan asked a question to clarify how the Holy Spirit works in changing lives. The Holy Spirit lives in you, renewing your mind with truth. The Holy Spirit reveals truth in the heart … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Lord Save Me

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 27 (05-29-19)

Bob George shared from John 6 and Matthew 14 on the miracles of Jesus, the healing of the sick, the feeding of the five thousand with two small fish and five barley loaves, and calming a storm after walking on water, then continues teaching from Matthew 15. God is in the miracle working business but the greatest miracle is the transformed lives of men. Jesus did these miracles because the Father told him to (John 5:19, John 8:28), for God is full of compassion and tender mercy (James 5:11).

He was here on earth on a mission, a plan from before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:19-20), to go to the cross and rise again, a command he received from His Father (John 10:18). He came to do something for man that man could never do for himself (Matthew 19:26).

He first came to prepare the hearts of men so they may know who he is, that he is God (John 10:38, John 5:18, John 8:58), and see their need, their unrighteousness (Romans 3:10) and God’s righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). At times Jesus was not what we would call … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Who Do You Say I Am

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 24 (05-22-19)

Bob George shares from John 5, on the testimony of the Father concerning Jesus. Bob emphasized the life of the Holy Spirit living in a person, producing the fruit of the Spirit. That ultimately is the work Jesus came to do. One characteristic of the Spirit is love (Galatians 5:22-23). Then he shares from 1 Corinthians 13, explaining how Jesus came to expose the pride in man, that he may humble himself, recognize his state of spiritual death, and come to walk in the newness of life, with the Spirit of God living in him. The opposite of love is not hate, but pride. As a born again person, Jesus is showing us today how to live in dependence on the Holy Spirit of God. He is the vine and we are the branches. We love because he first loved us. Allow the love of he Holy Spirit to be produced in you and through you.

Bob George shares from John 5 on the testimonies of Jesus. We have read about his early life and his public ministry, his miracles, the testimony of John the Baptist, and where Jesus identified himself … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

A Humble Heart

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P441 (5-17-19)

Clarence called to express concern over so many false teachers on the airways. Marie called to say that she did not believe in “once saved, always saved” but then was unwilling to listen to truth. She did not call to learn but to preach. So Bob had to cut off the air and then explain the truth on eternal security in salvation to the listeners. Charles called to ask what is the sin of blasphemy. Bob explained what that is from scripture and further explained what God accomplished in sending his son Jesus to die on the cross to take away the sins of the entire world. Bob further explained that salvation is the receiving of life. Mark called to ask if you can lose your salvation. Bob first asked Mark to explain what he knew and then explained in detail what salvation is.  Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. Elizabeth called to ask what it means to endure to he end. Bob asked her what she understood and then explained the simplicity of the gospel, appealing … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
