Learn to Walk in Freedom in That Sabbath Rest in the New Covenant of Grace

When a person does not know the full gospel, has been taught erroneous teaching of in and out of fellowship, that you can lose salvation or lose fellowship, and does not understand the New Covenant He is under today, he is unable to rest in the fact that God has not only done it all, has taken away your sins from the eyes of God never to see them again, but is always alive, living in you, forever interceding for you.

As you ponder over these scriptures, Romans 5:10, Hebrews 9:22-28, Hebrews 10:9-18, Hebrews 4:1-11, Hebrews 7:23-25, and Hebrews 3:18-19, what conclusions can be drawn?

Romans 5:10
¹⁰ For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Understanding 1 John 1:9

Listen as Bob George provides the proper context of 1 John 1:9, as that is the most misquoted and misunderstood passage of scripture. Many people think this scripture is written to believers, and think it means that, as Christians, when we sin, we need to confess that sin to God in order to either get back in relationship or back in fellowship with God. There are those who think you can lose salvation and those who think you can get out of fellowship with God, that somehow God is so mad at you because of sinning that you do. It’s important to understand that anything that does not come from faith is sin (Romans 14:23) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

First of all, this passage is a letter written by a pastor to a mixed audience of lost and saved people. In particular, there were Gnostics among them bringing their heretical teaching. Understanding Forgiveness in Light of the Full Gospel and the New Covenant

Without understanding the New Covenant we live under today, that can hinder us from properly interpreting scriptures. It is like you are trying to understand a doctrine, such as forgiveness, in isolation, and so you have tunnel vision, and come to incorrect conclusions. For example, how do you understand a passage such as this one?

Matthew 6:14-15
¹⁴ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

And then, how do you explain a passage in the New Covenant, such as this one?

Colossians 3:13
¹³ Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

The Only Solution to Death is Life and the Only Life Available to Man is the Resurrected Life in Christ Jesus

When we think of death, and if you have lived long enough, you have probably been to a funeral service or a viewing and have seen your loved one, your father or mother, your uncle or aunt, in a coffin. This physical death is a consequence of the sin that occurred in the garden of Eden. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and so death came to all men (Romans 5:12). But this physical death is a picture of a more devastating death, called spiritual death, which every man born in Adam is born with. Adam was born alive spiritually but chose sin and died. All of us born in Adam are born dead spiritually with the option to choose life. All mankind is now born dead to God, and that dead state continues on even while they are alive physically. Unless that problem of spiritual death is solved, all mankind is condemned already (John 3:36, John 3:17-18, Luke 19:10). Quit Sinning Against the Knowledge of Truth!

As Bob has said numerous times, all of us have been taught error from various denominational persuasions of men. The scripture that continually comes up in certain circles of Christendom is in Hebrews 10:26-31. People often think that to mean that if I do those dirty dozen or those nasty nine sins, deliberately, then I am going to hell. Many get fearful of this passage because they do not have proper understanding, because they do not understand what Jesus accomplished at the cross. People should be fearful, if they are sinning against the knowledge of the truth and after receiving the knowledge of the truth. The truth is people do not understand or realize he is talking about the sin of unbelief. He is talking about sinning against the knowledge of truth.

Now, if someone understands the truth, but deliberately and stubbornly says, “I do not care” and I am going back to the day of atonement or to my confessional booth to a priest to get my sins forgiven or as a Protestant quoting 1 John 1:9 to keep short accounts with God, after realizing what the knowledge of truth is, then there is no sacrifice for sin left, and then there should be fear of going to hell.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

People have grown up under, or have heard, all kinds of teachings of men, whether Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian or Pentecostal or any number of denominations out there. Now on a matter of such eternal importance as salvation, sadly the message is not proclaimed clearly or even accurately. You may have heard all kinds of phrases like, “Once saved, always saved”, “Sacraments are necessary for salvation”, that salvation is a process that you have to go through, “You have to be baptized in order to be saved.” or that “Salvation is getting your sins forgiven.” It is so sad that the gospel of salvation is not proclaimed clearly and accurately as it ought to be! Not only that, even when it is proclaimed on one Sunday it is undermined by double-talk when a preacher teaches 1 John 1:9 out of context and uses it to tell people to ask God to forgive them when they sin so as to keep short accounts with God and to keep in fellowship with God.
