Law Shows Your Sin

Thanksgiving Law & Grace P2 – Bob George (11-26-20)

Synopsis

Have you ever just redefined sin as something else than what it is? You call worry a healthy concern, or adultery an affair, or homosexuality an alternative lifestyle. Have you ever lied or stolen and knew that it was sin? We can rationalize sin away by redefining it, but it is still sin. But being born into this world we are still born under the law of sin, and that sin caused our death. So then we hear about the law, or the ten commandments from church, and we think, “Hey, I can obey that!” Well, you have just lied to yourself. For it is not very long that you find yourself even coveting after something your neighbor has. And you read that coveting is sin. Then you find yourself coveting all the more. You have just discovered the law at work in your life, condemning you. The good things you know you ought to do, you find yourself not doing them and the things you do not want to do, you do them anyway. Have you discovered this body of death in you? Have you discovered how wretched you … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

All People Are Law Breakers

Thanksgiving Law & Grace P1 – Bob George (11-25-20)

Synopsis

When we think of what Jesus did for us at the cross, we have much to be thankful for. We were born spiritually dead, born under the law of sin and death in weakened flesh. Unless we are out from under that law of sin that caused our death, then we will remain in a state of eternal death, forever separated from the Lord, miserable, wretched and without hope. But God in the person of Jesus Christ rescued us, reconciled us to Himself, having paid the just requirements of the law for us. Our sins were judged. The verdict was guilty. The punishment was death and Jesus took it all.

Jesus’ shed blood on a cross is what prepared the way for life to be given. Now that sin and death is out of the way, and He has risen from the dead. He offers the same life that raised Him from the dead to you and me. As great as it is for our sins to be forgiven, how much greater is being made alive in Christ Jesus. For if Jesus was not raised from the dead then I … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Go Beyond The Cross

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P32 (01-21-19)

Synopsis

As we read in Romans 8, there is life in the Spirit. Formerly, the mind of the lost person was hostile to God. We do not naturally think of ourselves as hostile to God, but we are. The law is set against us and so we would rather plead ignorance. Then we can at least plead ignorance. But if we are properly trained by the law to lead us to Christ, then the law served its purpose to convince us that we are dead and in need of life.

We used to live according to the flesh, when we were lost, because that is all we had. But then when we were born again, the Spirit of God came to indwell us. We were set free from the law of sin and death because in our weak state we were never able to live up to the demands of the law. The Spirit of life came to live in us to produce love in and through us, as we learn to trust God.

But how many people have understood what it means to walk in accordance with the Spirit. Jesus told … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Purpose of The Law

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P27 (01-08-19)

Synopsis

In Romans, Paul uses several illustrations in explaining truth of living under grace. He uses an illustration of marriage to illustrate that we are to die to the law of sin and death and live to another, Jesus Christ our Lord. So a husband who dies, then the woman he was married to is free to marry another man. She is no longer bound to the law of marriage since her husband has died.

As Paul uses various illustrations, the illustration of master and slaves and the law of marriage, he is explaining truth to people who were so accustomed to living under the law of Moses. They perverted the law and made into a means to obtaining righteousness. The truth he taught went against everything the Jewish world at that time believed to be true. As it was in that day, so it is still today. There is still Jewish orthodoxy under strict legalism, that forbids spitting on the ground on the Sabbath. You even have a Sabbat elevator to prevent work on the Sabbath.

You also have the church world today that puts people under law. You have heard … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Baptism and the Lords Supper

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P437 (5-03-19)

Bob George RadioBob received calls of encouragement for him to keep up the good work he is doing, speaking truth into the hearts of men. One caller accepted the gift of eternal life while listening to Bob explain the gospel message. Bob encouraged him to study the bible to know the truth and left him materials to help him grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, material that is designed to be read alongside the scriptures, so the Holy Spirit will reveal truth to men.

Bob also received a call from a listener to help sort through things he has been hearing in a bible study concerning the Lord’s supper. So many people are confused about the Lord’s supper, and are even scared to death that they do not receive the Lord’s chastisement for fear they have partaken of the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner, being caught up in introspection over sin. Bob goes through the entire passage in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, explaining truth in context, exposing error in thinking and then explaining what the Lord’s Supper really is about, a celebration of joy and not fear, a … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
