The Word of God is Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P22 (03-29-21)

Synopsis

If you have ever seen someone come to know the Lord for the first time, and had the privilege to share about Jesus to them, family or friends, then you can tell about what joy and delight that is to see. Maybe you have never seen anyone in your family or even any friend come to the Lord, but you are sharing the word of God. We have to trust in God that when His word goes out, it does not return void. For some of you, that could be twenty or more years, and still you see no fruit of the labor. Nevertheless, we leave it in the hands of God. To God belong the results, in His timing. We do not need to force the message. It is a practical message, that man is dead and in need of life, with a message of great news, that Jesus provided that need of life as a gift to be received by faith, yet it can take time for people to process, some longer than others. Yes, family and friends, let them know you love them in any way you can, and if they are willing to listen, then you can share.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Brought in The New Covenant

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P619 (03-25-21)

Synopsis

All of us have a past, and we did things we are not proud of, some more than others, as far as the types of sins we did, that are particularly sensitive. Take the example of the apostle Paul, for example. He formerly persecuted Christians prior to his conversion, dragging mothers and fathers apart, putting them in prison, being quite a violent man. You also have men like Nikki Cruz of the true story documented, in The Cross and the Switchblade, with such a horrible past in gang-related crimes as a New York city gang leader, yet he responded to the gospel message and became a changed man. In both cases, they both now share their testimony, not in great detail, but enough for people to know he is not who he used to be. That could be true if you were a former lesbian or a child molester with prison time. That is what you used to be or do, but God got a hold of your heart and you are changed.

In regard to Saul of Tarsus, now identified as the apostle Paul, the people just said that the man is now preaching what he once tried to destroy, and praised God because of Him.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Holy Spirit

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P21 (03-24-21)

Synopsis

How do you respond to the word of God? As you read the word, from those who are eyewitnesses of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, or had an encounter with the risen Savior, how do you respond? Are they just words on a page? You can know what they say, but do you know what they mean? Do you know they are truly words from the living God? Who can make the word of God come alive to you as to its meaning, a meaning that transforms hearts and lives?

Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Unless a man is born again he cannot discern the things of God. To the natural man, the words of the bible sound like foolishness to him. Not so with the believer. He hears the words of the bible as to what they really are, words from the living God. The Spirit of God is living in Him, and so he has the mind of Christ, who interprets the meaning to him.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Promised the Holy Spirit

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P20 (03-23-21)

Synopsis

In order to be an apostle, you had to be someone who was with Jesus in the beginning, a witness of His baptism, death, burial and resurrection and ascension into heaven. Those were the men Jesus called apostles and gave the authority to represent Him here on earth initially, with the proclamation of the gospel, and then to select some of them to be writers of the New Testament. Those who wrote, wrote down what the Spirit of God living in them revealed as only what He wanted them to say.

Then we have the apostle Paul, the last of the apostles, almost too late for that, having not witnessed the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, but was appointed by God to be an apostle to the Gentiles. But He did have direct revelation from God and His message was affirmed by the apostles as of equal authority as their writings. Paul even testified that what was revealed to him, the message, was revealed directly to him by God (Galatians 1:12). That would not have any meaning without having been confirmed by the other apostles whom Jesus said are his representatives here on this earth (2 Peter 3:15-16, Acts 1:8).… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is the Answer to Life

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P19 (03-22-21)

Synopsis

Authority was given to the apostles, those who were with Jesus from the beginning, since the baptism of John, identifying Jesus of Nazareth as the promised Messiah, with Jesus at His death, burial and resurrection, and at His ascension back into heaven, with the promise to see Him again physically, in a period of time called the millennial reign of Christ on this earth. So there are no apostles today. Signs and wonders were performed through the apostles, confirming to men that what they spoke concerning Christ, which they saw and heard directly from Christ Jesus, came to be written down for our sakes.

So as we read from the pages of scripture, we come to understand all that Christ came to do for our sakes. We learned about the Old Testament prophets, what they said concerning the word of God, with over 300 prophecies that were all fulfilled in one person, Jesus Christ. Isaiah prophesied of a person coming, of a voice crying in the wilderness, to prepare the way of the Lord. This man was John the Baptist, the last Old Testament prophet. Through John, in fulfillment of scripture, the promised Messiah was revealed to Israel, as a dove descended from heaven and lighted on Jesus, whom John testified that when this should happen, this man is the one.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Resurrection

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P18 (03-17-21)

Synopsis

As was prophesied through the prophet Jeremiah, and explained more thoroughly in the book of Hebrews, we live today under a new covenant. Jeremiah and Jesus both lived under an old covenant. While Jesus was on this earth, He lived under an old covenant while speaking about a new covenant to come. He initiated a new covenant, or new will, after His death on a cross. Just as we have a will today that only goes into effect after the person living dies, so too with this new covenant Jesus spoke about, that also the writer of Hebrews explains.

The old covenant was one of law, like a tutor to those under the law until Christ should come to fulfill the law. No man could fulfill all the just requirements of the law. This law required perfection and if anyone failed at just one point, he was guilty of breaking all of it. The reason for that is because anything that does not come from faith is sin, and the wages of sin is death. Even the inward thoughts and attitudes of man are sin, such as lust and hatred, which are equivalent to adultery and murder, in the eyes of God.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
