Ministers of a New Covenant

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P7 (06-08-21)

Synopsis

Are you competent as a minister of the New Covenant? Do you know what the New Covenant is, and can you explain that to someone else? That is so important to know and Paul instructed Timothy in this way.

2 Timothy 4:1-3
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

But if you are going to preach the word, are you commingling law and grace or are you teaching the New Covenant, which the Lord says you have to be made competent as a minister of the New Covenant, a covenant that replaced the old one?

Now, you may not identify yourself as a minister because you are not functioning as a pastor with a congregation, but can you tell someone the hope you have within you, and the reason for that hope?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Says Thank You to God Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P640 (06-04-21)

Synopsis

People have grown up under, or have heard, all kinds of teachings of men, whether Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian or Pentecostal or any number of denominations out there. Now on a matter of such eternal importance as salvation, sadly the message is not proclaimed clearly or even accurately. You may have heard all kinds of phrases like, “Once saved, always saved”, “Sacraments are necessary for salvation”, that salvation is a process that you have to go through, “You have to be baptized in order to be saved.” or that “Salvation is getting your sins forgiven.” It is so sad that the gospel of salvation is not proclaimed clearly and accurately as it ought to be! Not only that, even when it is proclaimed on one Sunday it is undermined by double-talk when a preacher teaches 1 John 1:9 out of context and uses it to tell people to ask God to forgive them when they sin so as to keep short accounts with God and to keep in fellowship with God. So in reality, the message proclaimed often by a Protestant denomination is not any different than a Catholic saying you must go to a confessional booth to get your sins forgiven.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P639 (06-03-21)

Synopsis

A common question asked is in regard to the law. What is the law? Does it include the ten commandments as well as the dietary laws? Are those laws, particularly the ten commandments, a guide for us to live by? For Christians? Should believers be teaching people to obey the law? We all fall short of the law. We all have sinned. Can we ever be made holy by what we do? These are some of the most frequently asked questions.

First, what is the purpose of the law? Was the law ever added to make us righteous? According to the apostle Paul, no one will ever be made righteous by observing the law. It is through the law that we are conscious of sin. Why then was the law given? Paul even says the law is holy, righteous and good. But then he discovers that he is not righteous, and the law only stirred up sin in him. And that is the problem. The law is like a mirror. A mirror can show you there is dirt on your face, but a mirror cannot be used to remove the dirt.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is the Initiator

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P5 (06-02-21)

Synopsis

When you read the Old Testament, you get a better understanding and visual picture of why we need a New Covenant. In my growing up, the ten commandments were taught as something to live by and memorize. I am not sure what people still think about the ten commandments today, because in my state, the ten commandments were ordered to be taken down from the capitol grounds, and I would hear from church-going people that Roy Moore needs to stand down and obey the law of the land. But the point is, the ten commandments is something closely tied to the conscience that God has created in mankind as something that is holy, righteous and good. In Muslim countries, I have heard that if you steal gold out of a store, because they do not have such items locked up in a case, then you can get your hand chopped off. That is overly harsh punishment to me, but the point is they would not have such a law if they thought stealing was not wrong.

Many churches used to, and maybe still do, teach the ten commandments as holy, righteous and good.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith in Jesus Says Thank You

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P3 (05-31-21)

Synopsis

The book of Hebrews, particularly chapters 7-10, explains this New Covenant, as the scriptures testify in 2 Corinthians 3:6, that we are made ministers of. The New Testament is the testament, covenant, or will that God replaced the Old Covenant with because the old one could make no one perfect, because it was weak and useless. The problem was not with the law, being holy, right and good, but with us, because we could not keep it. Under an Old Covenant, the man who sins shall surely die. Under the New Covenant, the man who believes shall surely live. The belief is in a person who can fulfill the law for us and did, and that person is Jesus Christ.

Jesus did something for us we could never do. He fulfilled the just requirements of the law for us, paid the punishment of death for sin for us in full, and then was raised to new life, to give us His resurrected life to be received as a gift. So then He was able to set aside the Old Covenant of the law of sin and death in order to usher in a New Covenant of grace, of liberty in Christ Jesus.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Life in Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P638 (05-28-21)

Synopsis

We have this struggle between our flesh and the Spirit more than we like to admit or even realize. When you think of sin, as God defines it, as anything that does not come from faith is sin, how many times are we anxious? Many of us have been incorrectly taught that you need to confess your sins to God to keep in fellowship, but that is not biblical. Jesus took away our sins at the cross, without which there is no forgiveness of sins, and He did that before we even asked Him to. He is not going to shed His blood again, and has chosen to remember our sins no more. The sin of the world that must be repented of, and the only sin, is unbelief in Him. So it is not faith to ask for what in Him you already have, the forgiveness of sins. Again, that forgiveness was provided before you and I were ever born physically into this world. In Him is the redemption, the forgiveness of sins, as we read in Ephesians 1:7. Are you in Him?

If you are a child of God, you became a child by receiving what God came to offer you, His very Holy Spirit of life to be placed in you, the same life that raised Jesus from the dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
