Synopsis

The word of God we hold in our hands is the plumbline for truth. We have the evidence and testimony written down through those who were eyewitnesses, affirming that this message is of divine origin. This message came to us from God. Even the apostles testify of the apostle Paul’s writings were from God, and Paul himself testified that no one else taught him except Jesus Christ. Knowing that is where truth is found, and discerned as true as the Spirit of God living in you reveals truth to you, then do you weigh the words of men carefully through the scriptures as to whether what they say are true or not?

Do you believe in Baptist doctrine as true because you were born Baptist and listened to a Baptist preacher? Do you believe Mormon doctrine because someone claimed they heard from an angel of God? Synopsis

As was prophesied through the prophet Jeremiah, and explained more thoroughly in the book of Hebrews, we live today under a new covenant. Jeremiah and Jesus both lived under an old covenant. While Jesus was on this earth, He lived under an old covenant while speaking about a new covenant to come. He initiated a new covenant, or new will, after His death on a cross. Just as we have a will today that only goes into effect after the person living dies, so too with this new covenant Jesus spoke about, that also the writer of Hebrews explains.

The old covenant was one of law, like a tutor to those under the law until Christ should come to fulfill the law. No man could fulfill all the just requirements of the law. This law required perfection and if anyone failed at just one point, he was guilty of breaking all of it. The reason for that is because anything that does not come from faith is sin, and the wages of sin is death. Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 2 (11-26-19)

Synopsis

Where are you in this coming up Thanksgiving season? Are you in a season of your life now where you are free to talk with your mother or your father? Or is that relationship strained? Do you have brothers and sisters in Christ whom you can be with? Well, you are blessed. God tells us to be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. What does that mean? God sees you and rejoices with you when you rejoice but He also grieves with you when you grieve. He is always available for help in time of need. And there is the peace of God that surpasses all understanding because you know Him. You have understood and entered the Sabbath rest with God. That is why we can be thankful. We learn patience and endurance through the things we struggle, the trial and tribulations of life, humbly depending on the Holy Spirit of God, who leads us from within, as a child of God. That is why we can boast in our weaknesses, for when we are weak, He is strong.

Synopsis

So often people trust the words of their pastor or some person. He could be Calvin or MacArthur or your baptist preacher or your Presbyterian preacher, or your Catholic priest, and you would just trust what they tell you as true. After all, he went to seminary, you think. Or he got trained under 2000 years of church history just like the Jews did, for they had Moses as their teacher. But have you ever stopped to think if what they are saying is true? If you are born again, who is living in you? What did he promised you? That he would guide you into all truth. How do you suppose he is going to do that? If you are born again, did you know that you have the mind of Christ, the ability to discern the things of God and make judgments about all things?

In part two of this three part series, Bob addresses the functioning of the church as the people of God, where this love of Christ is to be worked out, so the people of God can grow in maturity to know the fullness of God.
