The Wages of Sin is Death

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P28 (01-13-19)

Synopsis

Continuing on in Romans, Paul explains how the law stirs up sin. He used the example of coveting, because that gets us all. He would not have known what coveting was if the law had not said “do not covet”. But he found that when he tried not to covet, he coveted all the more. He found he could not carry out the law, even though the law is holy, righteous and good. So the problem is not in the law, but in himself. The problem of mankind is sin. In the flesh is sin. The law, which is intended to bring life, actually brought about his death, that he would come to say, “What a wretched man I am”. The purpose of the law is so that you come to the end of the law for righteousness, and in your wretched condition, you turn to the only one who can give you life, the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.

So the law brought about our death. That is, we thought we thought we were okay, basically a good person, until the law told us what sin is, and we found ourselves unable to obey the law, so we came to understand we are a sinner, and as a sinner, we are dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Forgave You - Now Believe it
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P502 (01-10-20)

Synopsis

One common question that gets asked quite often is about how the law of Moses applies to us today. Well, if you are a lost person, then it still applies to you to lead you to Christ, for that is the purpose of the law. The law was added so man might recognize he is a sinner, and then understand his condition of death to God, so that he might to Christ to receive new life. Otherwise, the cross of Christ has no meaning to him. The law of Moses was written on stone and is a ministry of death and condemnation. That is, the law is like a mirror, to tell you what your problem is. Although it was glorious, though fading, it does not compare to the glorious ministry of righteousness that Jesus gives to those who are born again. For those who have been born again, the law of Moses does not apply. None of it. Not the ten commandments and not the ceremonial laws or any other laws. Why? You are no longer under the law of sin and death, but you are now under grace, the life of the Spirit.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Purpose of The Law

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P27 (01-08-19)

Synopsis

In Romans, Paul uses several illustrations in explaining truth of living under grace. He uses an illustration of marriage to illustrate that we are to die to the law of sin and death and live to another, Jesus Christ our Lord. So a husband who dies, then the woman he was married to is free to marry another man. She is no longer bound to the law of marriage since her husband has died.

As Paul uses various illustrations, the illustration of master and slaves and the law of marriage, he is explaining truth to people who were so accustomed to living under the law of Moses. They perverted the law and made into a means to obtaining righteousness. The truth he taught went against everything the Jewish world at that time believed to be true. As it was in that day, so it is still today. There is still Jewish orthodoxy under strict legalism, that forbids spitting on the ground on the Sabbath. You even have a Sabbat elevator to prevent work on the Sabbath.

You also have the church world today that puts people under law. You have heard pastors, and so have I said much legalistic things.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Life to the Dead

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P23 (12-17-19)

Synopsis

Let the Holy Spirit reveal truth to you as you read the 5th chapter of Romans. Paul answers a common question: What is the purpose of the law? Have you come to understand that the law was never designed for you to be made righteous before God? It is only through the law that you are conscious of sin. The law is to reveal sin in you so that you might seek a savior. There is only one savior, Jesus Christ. He is the only one who has no sin of his own, being God in the flesh, and the only one who has a life to lay down only to raise it up again.

But who has understood what Jesus came to do? Many know that Jesus died, was buried and rose again. But just knowing that is like knowing Jesus as a man in history. Even Satan knows that Jesus died, but that certainly made no difference in the heart of Satan. What is the condition of your heart today? To those who are lost, I make this appeal. Have you recognized that you are a sinner? Have you understood that you are wretched, enslaved to sin, in bondage to the law of sin and death?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Victory Over Depression - Book
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P496 (12-06-19)

Synopsis

As we live in our present bodies, in this sin-indwelling flesh, none of us are beyond falling into old sinful patterns. Yes, we, who are in Christ, live under the grace of God, but we never want to take advantage of God’s grace and live in sin for which Christ has set us free. So Paul addresses the church in Corinth, for the third time now, and is grieved and humbled to go over these same matters again. He provides firm correction, as we read in 1 Corinthians, about a man who has his father’s wife. The Corinthian church was boasting and should be grieved. The church listened to Paul’s instruction, and the man was put out of fellowship with the church, to be handed over to Satan so his flesh will be destroyed. We read in 2 Corinthians that the discipline of the many was sufficient, and the man went out of his way to clear himself of this matter, having true godly sorrow over sin. The church was then instructed to go out of their way to show their love to him so he is not overcome with grief, otherwise he might never recover.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
