Jesus Wants Your Faith to be in Him

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P19 (07-06-21)

Synopsis

Faith is one of those words used or heard but do we know what it means? Hebrews 11 defines faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This “hope for” is not a “hope so”, but a firm trust in what God has guaranteed us in His Son. We put our trust in what God accomplished for us in Christ Jesus, in what his death, burial and resurrection accomplished for us.

But not everyone has heard or understood what Jesus accomplished for us. You can know that Jesus is God, and that he lived, died and did certain marvelous things, but you have not put your faith in what He has given you, which is eternal life. I once was asked, “Would you like to be saved?”. I had never heard such a strange question before. “Saved from what?” I knew about Jesus dying on a cross. You see a picture of that in the church I grew up in all the time. And I knew something about Jesus rising from the dead. You at least hear about that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Our Priest Forever

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P18 (07-05-21)

Synopsis

Many times young people are taught to memorize scripture. I am not sure if they are even taught to read the bible on their own. So we create little smart-sounding people that get rewarded for how many verses they memorize. But the real question is, do they understand what they memorized, and in context? Otherwise, we have essentially trained a computer to spit out what is put in.

Other people have been trained that certain people who have special training, are the only ones that have the corner on truth. In some denominations, you are taught that only the Magisterium can interpret the bible, and talk of something called oral tradition as of greater value in knowing what truth is. The problem with denominations, whether Protestant, Catholic or anything else, people are taught denominational persuasions of men. How would you know if what you are being taught is true or not?

The word of God is the source of truth. But ultimately, the author of the bible, God Himself, has to reveal truth to men by the Spirit He has given. Faith comes by hearing and hearing … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is The Mediator of the New Covenant

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P11 (06-16-21)

Synopsis

Faith is Understanding Jesus Forgave You Completely!

This New Covenant we are under today is a covenant of grace. When you think about what is the eternal inheritance that Jesus bought and secured for us, we cannot help but say, “Thank you, Jesus” and “Praise be to God for His marvelous grace.” This grace provided for us a new heart, the heart of God that is full of His love and compassion that we can access and allow to flow out of us. We have this unconditional acceptance, where we are free to fail without any condemnation, and can then boldly go to the throne of grace to instruct us, guide us into truth to correct our harmful behavior, with such tender-loving care. This is all part of this wonderful personal relationship with the living God, who rejoices over us, rejoices when we rejoice, and who delights in us. And to think that God, who created the entire vast universe with His spoken word, has such wonderful thoughts concerning me! He even knows every hair on my head.

Last, we have this wonderful promise of being eternally … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Forgave You on The Cross

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P641 (06-10-21)

Synopsis

A very common question asked is, “What about 1 John 1:9?” People ask this because they are often taught that this passage is written to believers, telling believers to confess their sins to God when they sin. What they mean by that is that when you sin, to stay in fellowship with God, you keep short accounts of sins with God by asking God to forgive you when you sin. But is that true? Have you read all of 1 John to discern its context? And if that is true, what people teach about 1 John 1:9, then Jesus did not take away all our sins, and, if that is so, then He would have to come back again to shed His blood again, every time we sinned, because according to Hebrews 9:22 that is what He would have to do for sins to be forgiven? And that would also make Jesus out to be a liar who cried out at the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30), which in Greek, is the word, Tetelestai, meaning “Paid in full”, which is really saying that God took away the sins of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Fulfilled The Law And The Prophets

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P610 (02-19-21)

Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A Baptist pastor teaches what he has been taught from a Baptist seminary. So too, a Presbyterian minister teaches what he has been taught from a Presbyterian seminary. And so too with the Methodists and the Catholics. They are taught to depend on what man tells them rather than depending on the Holy Spirit to reveal to them the meaning of the word of God.

Sadly, none of these denominations agree, and they continue to repeat error, generation after generation. So, the church is in sad shape, and often those who know the truth are compelled to leave because they would be silenced or isolated, called out as being divisive, because what people hear, the truth, is contrary to what they have been taught by men, and they will not or are unable to accept what you say, expounding on the scriptures, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
