We want to remind our listeners that Bob George Ministries needs your financial support to continue to have Classic Christianity radio on the air. Please visit “BobGeorge.net” to find out how you can support us financially. Let us listen to Bob as he offers practical biblical insights as he helps us grow in faith hope and love in Jesus Christ.

On today’s broadcast, Jennifer asked a question about God’s foreknowledge. Does He know who will say yes to salvation and who will not? Robert, the second caller, asked a basic factual question about what the Sanhedrin is. He then asked about Apostolic Succession and what that was. Bob addressed what the role of Apostles were and how there is now no more new revelation since before the death of the last Apostle John when all the scriptures that were to be written was written. The next caller Gary was getting confused from false teaching he was hearing. He asked if someone can lose their salvation. He pointed to scriptures referencing the book of life, name being blotted out, and perseverance of the saints. These scriptures were causing him confusion. Jean, another caller, asked what was meant by anointing as in a teacher being anointed or someone anointed with the gift of healing. Another caller named Gary asked if Bob ever read the book titled “Grace” by Lewis Sperry Chafer, the founder of Dallas Theological Seminary.
Jennifer

Jennifer had been in a Bible study where the topic of the foreknowledge of God was being discussed. Since God gives us free will, creates everybody and is all knowing, when he creates man does he know whether they will choose salvation or the world? Bob responded by saying that foreknowledge is the realm of God, something we cannot enter. What God knows I don’t know. I do not have an ounce of foreknowledge. If any of us had foreknowledge we could be a billionaire on the stock market. God is in that realm and we live in this realm so we leave that alone. He gives us a choice and he knows what our choice is going to be and leave it there. Stop trying to figure something out beyond your realm of understanding, that is impossible for us to understand. That is His realm not mine. As far as I can know does God know who is going to say yes and who is going to say no in advance of our being here on this earth. I guess. But how does he do that when we are not even here yet. I do not know.
Jean then asked about when talking to someone who is lost, who are throwing questions at you, how do you answer? When talking to lost, we have this understanding from God’s word.

1 Corinthians 2:14
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Do not even go into this subject with them. What we talk about is foolishness to them. Just give the simple gospel to them. That is all they need to know at this point in their life.

Robert

Robert understood what the Bible describes as the Pharisees and Sadducee, but asked Bob who is the Sanhedrin. Bob explained that the Sanhedrin is a governing body, like our congress. It is a governing body for the Jews. How they become member of the Sanhedrin Bob did not know. But the Sanhedrin is made of both Sadducee and Pharisees. Pharisees believed in miracles and eternal life. Sadducee do not believe in the resurrection. Paul addressed both religious groups and got them into an argument with each other and then bailed out.

Robert then asked that he heard about Apostolic Succession. Apostolic Succession is only taught in the Catholic Church. Refer to “https://www.gotquestions.org/apostolic-succession.html” for further details as to such a false teaching. There is nothing in the Bible to even hint of that thing. Before the last Apostle John died, scripture was completed so there is no longer any need for Apostles.

Ephesians 4:11-12

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

In the early church, Jesus gave the Apostles and teachers. When the disciples asked Jesus what is the work of ministry. Jesus reply was to believe in him.

John 6:29
Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

They wrote scripture told them by Christ Jesus. He said he would cause everything to be brought back into memory.

John 14:26

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The purpose of scriptures is to get people to trust him.

1 John 5:13

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The role of an evangelist, a pastor and a teacher is to help people to trust and believe in him. These people are gifts to the church just as the Apostle was given to the body of Christ. You are the gift. The pastor or teacher is the gift. The Apostle was a gift from God. A prophet was a gift from God. An evangelist is a gift of God to the body of Christ. When become children of God, then given spiritual gits to edify and build up under the supervision of pastors and teachers, who are also given to the body of Christ. Prophet today is given a different assignment, and that is to encourage the church. The man who prophesies speaks to men (the body) for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort and edifies the church. Prophet today is to bring people back to the word of God, to classic Christianity, the original. The prophet brings people back to Jesus and to the word of God. If anyone adds to the written word, let him be accursed.
Revelation 22:18

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll.

No new revelation will a prophet bring to the body today.

Gary
Gary was being confused from false teaching concerning losing your salvation. He was reflecting on this since he recently lost family members and was reflecting on their souls, so was emotionally weak. Several passages of scripture that were being twisted to confuse him are listed below.

Revelation 3:5

The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.

Psalms 69:28

May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.

Matthew 24:13

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved

Bob responded by saying that if your premise is off, everything is off. Interpret everything off the work of Jesus Christ. If someone says you can lose your salvation does not have a clue what salvation is. Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. That life given to you is eternal life, not temporal life. Calling God a liar if you say it is temporal. The only thing that can cause life given to you by Christ Jesus, which is new birth, the springing of life, to depart from you is sin. Why is that an impossibility? Because he took away the only thing that separates you from God, sin, by his death on the cross. On the cross, he took away the sins of world. The only sin (singular) is unbelief in Christ. You already became a believer in him. There is no sin that can cause life to depart from us. People are so foolish to try to find the loopholes! Why believe that. They are only dooming themselves in to thinking they are prefect. What would ever enter someone’s brain to think they are perfect? The book of life is where your name is put in at the time of salvation. You cannot be taken out of the book of life. The day of preparation is what Jesus did at the cross. When he shed his blood, when he died on the cross to take away sins, he did so that he can offer his resurrection, eternal life. You cannot make yourself pure. Why not just walk by faith and stop adding to the gospel. Not death, burial and resurrection plus obedience. Not death, burial and resurrection plus tongues. Not death, burial and resurrection plus baptism. Not death, burial and resurrection plus church membership. Jesus died for me to take away my sins in the eyes of Christ. He was raised on the third day so that life that raised him could raise me from that state of spiritual death.

Colossians 2:13-14
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

All my sins forgiven ensures me I cannot lose the life he has given me. The only thing that could cause you to lose spiritual life is sin. The reason it is impossible to lose your salvation is because of the cross. Believing otherwise is spitting in the face of Jesus. No more judgment left for your sins. When you are back under legalism, what does the law point to you? The law only points to your sin. That is all the law could ever do. That is why you will never be free under the law.

Jean

Can you lose your anointing from God? Bob responded by first asking the question, “What does he think anointing from God is?” It is not power. It is the Holy Spirit. What is the anointing? It merely means receiving the Spirit of God.
1 John 2:27

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him

Receiving the anointing, according to scripture, is no different than receiving the Spirit of God, receiving Jesus Christ. Where do people make the anointing sound like he is an anointed teacher of God. Teaching is nothing other than a spiritual gift. That is just one of the gifts of the Spirit. But indwelling of the Spirit is the anointing of the Holy one. What would he think anointed of healing means? Does he wear glasses? If you have the gift of healing, then why do you not just use your anointing so can you throw your glasses away. People need to keep the emphasis on Christ. He came to save us and to give us life and life abundantly. That is what we should be emphasizing and not this false notion of anointing taught today.

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
