~ If a person is not being asked the question about the 1 John 1:9 passage of scripture, you can bet they are not preaching the gospel of Christ Jesus. And the reason people do indeed ask about that verse of scripture is because the overwhelming majority camp on a wrong interpretation of the word of God in regards to 1 John 1:9. The Greek word for Confess means to agree with God concerning your sins. What is it to agree with God? That God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting your sins against you or me, or anyone in the world. We rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. We are not to keep placing him back up there and calling God a liar, saying to him, “I don’t believe you died for all of my sins, and certainly you must not have really died for the sins of the whole world.” That is the mentality of people today. ~ If you are in Christ, and He is in you, He has set you free from the law of sin and death. The law was a shadow of things to come, not the realities themselves. The book of Hebrews is key to our understanding what the new covenant is all about. Once you realize the truth, that God is no longer counting your sins against you, the book of Hebrews is a message of freedom, that makes you want to jump for joy! God didn’t want us to be under the law, because He knew no one can do everything that the law required. So God took care of that for us. If You Are in Christ Jesus Count Yourself Dead to Sin

~ If you are not being asked the question, or people are not accusing you of giving people a license to sin, you can bet you are NOT teaching the truth of the word of God. Because when the Truth of the Gospel is taught, this question always comes up. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? And the answer is by no means! A person asking the question in the first place doesn’t understand what salvation is. Salvation is not getting your sins forgiven, it is receiving the Holy Spirit in you when you agree with God. Don’t let people put you on a guilt trip. They are the ones that are walking around in unbelief. They are the ones who are actually doing the license to sin. ~ If you are in Christ Jesus, and He is in You, then God has set you apart. You have been made holy by Him. It has nothing to do with what you do or don’t do. And we can’t make ourselves any holier than God has made us either. Though we see people out there today trying to make themselves holy. They even teach the lie of Satan of “practicing holiness” as though they think they can keep themselves holy in the sight of God. How is that any different than thinking we are like God ourselves?
