Jesus is Our Sabbath Rest Now Rest

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P634 (05-14-21)

Synopsis

To grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is important that we do not rely on what a denominational persuasion says, whether Baptist, Catholic, or Presbyterian, or whatever else it might be. Nor should we rely on what the early church fathers said, what Polycarp, John Wesley or Martin Luther said. Nor do we blindly rely on People to People or whatever common ministry is out there today. If what someone says is in agreement with truth as revealed by the Spirit of God through the word of God, then certainly hold onto such truth, for that is revealed by the Spirit of God, who does not lie.

Ultimately, we need to study the word of God for ourselves, as Paul commended the people of Berea for doing, for they diligently studied the scriptures to see if what he said was so, and they only had the Old Testament scriptures available to them in their day. Now that the gift of prophecy has been given to the prophets as well as the apostles, and the divine revelation from God to men has been written down, by eyewitnesses of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the canon is closed.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Brought in The New Covenant

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P631 (05-06-21)

Synopsis

People can grow up in any number of evangelical denominations and not really understand what salvation is, the meaning of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, what that really accomplished for mankind and for you personally. If you were to ask a person what salvation is, some will say it is a process you have to go through while others will say it is that Jesus died for my sins, and that is it. Others will even say you can lose your salvation. People who say such things do not know what salvation is. So to help a person, first you have to know what salvation is, what truth is as revealed by the Spirit of God from the scriptures. Then to engage the person in conversation, you might ask him, “What is your understanding of salvation?”

To a person who says salvation is “Jesus died for my sins”, and that is it, Bob often responds by saying, “That is your problem. You have got half a gospel. Let me explain to you. Do you want me to explain to you the fullness of the gospel?” The gospel is understanding the meaning of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and what that accomplished.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Has Taken Away Your Sins Once For All

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P36 (04-28-21)

Synopsis

The word of God is living and active. In the word of God is the words of good news, the gospel of salvation. It speaks of an Old Covenant, a law of sin and death, that has since been replaced by a New Covenant with man, whereby sins and lawless acts will be remembered no more.

So the word of God has given us everything that we need to learn about the love of God that is contained in Christ Jesus our Lord. How then do we respond to someone who says “I do not believe the bible is the word of God? I do not believe the bible is true? Do you believe that bible is true?”

The word of God is likened to a sword that cuts open and reveals to us the attitudes of our heart. So if a surgeon has a knife to treat a person with cancer, to cut out that cancer or the person will die, what must the surgeon do? He has to cut it out. Certainly he must communicate the problem to a person with cancer so they can choose.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is God and True to His Promises

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P625 (04-15-21)

Synopsis

Sometimes we can get off focus on what is really important in life, what God has called us to do in regard to being fishers of men, to reach out with love and truth for the souls of men. We can spend endless hours trying to figure out end time prophecies, and as interesting as that might be, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Yes, we should read Revelation and not avoid it, but everything in proper perspective. God’s word certainly tells us that anyone who reads the words of the prophecy and takes it to heart what is written in it is blessed. So He certainly wants us to read it with that in mind. God wants us prepared but not scared.

Then there is our neighbor or relative who does not know Christ. If you got a call from a friend, who at one time in his life rejected God, or even mocked the things of God, but all of a sudden there is a change in attitude in him. He is being drawn by the Spirit of God, expressing to you an emptiness he is feeling in his life, and how he has been recently listening to things of scripture and is beginning to wonder if he should accept Christ into his heart.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Our Completed Total Forgiveness

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P623 (04-08-21)

Synopsis

People call in to get advice and help on various topics, such as personal struggles with temptation or clarification on understanding scriptures, particularly those passages in the gospels that apply only to the Jewish people who were living under an Old Covenant. So Bob explains what the New Covenant we live under today is.

Jesus used the law to bury people under the law so they can see their need for a Savior. Until the work was finished, Jesus taught about the New Covenant to come, and he told his disciples to wait in Galilee for the promised Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes into a person, a person becomes born again, the Spirit remains forever. That is what happened to the disciples on the day of Pentecost, the first time in history people were born again.

The Holy Spirit is what changes lives. The disciples could not really understand what Jesus was saying to them, but now with the Holy Spirit living in them, they now have new revelation. The Spirit lived in them and changed them from fearful men, hiding in fear of the Jewish leaders, particularly that day after the crucifixion, and after Pentecost, became men as bold as a lion, proclaiming the gospel that changed their lives.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

A Closer Look at The Word of God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P27 (04-07-21)

Synopsis

In this life, it is sad when those you minister to the most hurt you the most. This happened to the apostle Paul, to Jesus, and still happens today. So how do we fight such things? Not by the weapons of this world. Not with envy, strife, or jealousy, or revenge. No, we fight with truth. Truth is what sets people free. Think about Peter who betrayed Jesus. Jesus told him ahead of time what he would do, but that he prayed for him, and after he returned, to go strengthen his brothers. We like redemption stories like that, and all of us have been redeemed, who are in Christ Jesus. God is always about our restoration. He uses truth to restore people to proper functioning. For the truth shall set you free.

So what are the weapons used against false teachers? Truth. Will truth always be well received? No. All the apostles were martyred for speaking truth, except the apostle John. But he was persecuted for the truth and was exiled to the island of Patmos. Yet, even from there, we have the rich prophetic scriptures of the end time events from Revelation, as Christ spoke to him there.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
