Synopsis

It can be difficult to sort out truth from error. It is sort of like brainwashing. The more often you have heard something repeated, so often that you believed it to be true, it seems so much harder to be convinced that you were deceived. That is so true today in the world we live in with lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports. But it is also true in the religious world where people hold onto false concepts such as election and tithing for today. Indeed there is a correlation or overlap between the religious and secular worlds. Those who are deceived in the things of this world tend also to be the same ones deceived in regard to the spiritual realm as well. For the spiritual realm has practical implications. But Jesus also warned us in his word to let no man deceive you, and that in the last days, even the elect would be deceived if that were possible.

Synopsis

The renewing of our mind is what will be going on in us until the day we meet the Lord. He reminds us to keep our mind on whatever is good, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. As we tend to drift toward anxiety, getting our minds flooded with all kinds of thoughts on a daily basis, it is easy to get our emotions focused on all the bad things that might happen tomorrow or to drift into depressing thoughts of the mistakes we made yesterday. That is what emotions do. They predictably respond to whatever you are thinking, and emotions do not know whether those thoughts are real or not, are happening now, tomorrow or yesterday. They just respond to whatever you are thinking. So let us get our mind back on what is true, and casts all our cares on Christ Jesus, for He cares for you.

Synopsis

People can grow up in any number of evangelical denominations and not really understand what salvation is, the meaning of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, what that really accomplished for mankind and for you personally. If you were to ask a person what salvation is, some will say it is a process you have to go through while others will say it is that Jesus died for my sins, and that is it. Others will even say you can lose your salvation. People who say such things do not know what salvation is. So to help a person, first you have to know what salvation is, what truth is as revealed by the Spirit of God from the scriptures. Then to engage the person in conversation, you might ask him, “What is your understanding of salvation?”

To a person who says salvation is “Jesus died for my sins”, and that is it, Bob often responds by saying, “That is your problem. You have got half a gospel. Let me explain to you. Synopsis

How can mortal man know God? Who can know the thoughts of God, the one who created all there is, who spoke the world and the universe into existence, and who created us? What is it about mankind that we ponder things of eternity, asking questions such as “Why am I here?”, “Where am I going when I die?” and “What is the meaning and purpose of life?” There is a general notion of emptiness, of a certain longing inside of mankind, to be made complete.

Why does mankind form religions to attempt to answer these questions of life? There is a conscience built into mankind, knowing that murder is wrong, knowing that stealing is wrong? So man instinctively knows the law. But man, being weak in his natural self, cannot obey the law. He thinks he can improve himself and ultimately appease some God out there, a God he does not personally know, but instead substitutes a god of his own imagination, not based on truth.

So what does man do? He makes up his own ideas, leans on his own understanding, and when he hears a message of grace, his first inclination is to reject it, for it is contrary to all the worldly patterns of thinking ingrained in him, that he must do something to be made acceptable to God.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Wants to Put The Spirit of God in You

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P37 (05-03-21)

Synopsis

Let us learn what it means to build on a new foundation. That also means we need to destroy the old foundation, whatever it is made of, denominational sand, New Age thinking, worldly thinking, whatever it might be, and replace that foundation with the bedrock of Jesus Christ. As an analogy, you can liken that to erasing a chalkboard of false mathematical equations with the correct mathematical equations, otherwise you are easily confused when you have old information mixed with new information, and are tempted to use the old information you are so comfortable with. Your mind is hindered from being renewed when you are fed error and poisonous doctrine mixed in with the truth. So be sanctified, be set apart from the thinking of the world.

We have a solid foundation to be built upon Christ Jesus, who spoke to the apostles, brought everything He said to them back to their remembrance, so they could write down the thoughts of Christ. Have you allowed the truth God’s word to change your thinking, or are you relying on your feelings? Do you feel that while you are in church, or active in serving others in some capacity, you are full of the Holy Spirit, but when you leave that feeling leaves? Did the Spirit of God ever leave you? No. The Spirit of God is always at work within you, and will never leave you or forsake you. He lives in you, if you are born again, to will and to act according to His good purpose. How well do you know all that God has given you in Christ Jesus? So grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ by reading His word, allowing the Spirit, who is alive living in you, to renew your mind with truth.

Have you been sitting under a pastor who is mixing law and grace? Has your pastor taught you that you have to take the Lord’s Supper in a worthy manner, and be sure to have no unconfessed sins when you eat at the Lord’s table. Is that true? No!
