You Must be Born Again of the Spirit of God

Is your identity a child of God, solely on what He says you are? If so, you can rest in who you have become in Christ Jesus, a child of God, for that is who you are, who God re-created you to be, what you receive by faith in Him.

Oftentimes, people perceive others as they think they are and therefore assume they think the same way about themselves. If I think they are proud then that is what they must think about themselves. That could be the farthest thing from reality. If someone thinks I did something wrong, but I know I did not do what he thinks I did, then what he says is not true, and I do no have to let what he thinks about me define who I am. Even if I was guilty of something, that does not change the fact I am still a child of God.

In the flesh, we have this tendency to perceive ourselves by what we think others perceive ourselves to be. But as a new creation in Christ, none of that matters.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Fulfilled The Law

How many times have we heard, Jesus fulfilled the law, yet people will say things like, the law now still has to be obeyed? Or they will say things like the Holy Spirit will now bring you into obedience to the law? Anyone that is still trying to live under law has not had the law do its work in them. For those in Christ Jesus are not under the old covenant that brings death, the law of the 10 Commandments. For the Holy Spirit lives in the believer today and we are under a new covenant, one in which the Spirit gives Life.

2 Corinthians 3:6
⁶ He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

I don’t think there’s a more important subject that we can deal with than our identity. First of all, I think the most important subject that we have to deal with is His identity and that’s Christ. And of course not only do most people, not only not know who He is, but because we don’t know who He is, we don’t know who we are. And so we really don’t know a whole lot when it comes right down to it. I think the other thing is because we’re in such a mindset that our identity comes from what we do, that the reality of that is and the problem with that is, we go out and do something and we don’t even know who it is that did it. If we don’t understand who we are, so when my identity is in what I do, I can say well I do this, I’m a preacher. I’m a basketball player. I’m a housewife, but if that’s according to what I’m doing in otherwards, if It’s I’m a housewife because I’m sweeping the floor and I’m cooking meals, that’s what I’m doing.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Understanding Your Identity as a Child of God

As we continue today, we review a bit of yesterday’s program. Listen in as Bob explains your identity as being a child of God.

Bob: Now, another thing where we use to determine our self-image is by what we do. And I believe that Satan has done a masterful job of getting people, to use the statements, I’m a, I’m a businessman. I’m a housewife. Who are you Bob? Well, I’m a housewife. I’m a, I’m a businessman. I’m a football player now. In that particular deal our self-image is therefore based upon what we do.

But I think there’s even something deeper to that because in essence, our self-image is not only based upon what we do, but it had me. It would have to be based on how well we do it. In other words, what good does it do to say well, I’m a football player? Have you ever caught a pass? No fumbled every one, every one that has been thrown to me.
