We have to understand God wants us to grow in the depth of the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to get to know him deeper and deeper and deeper, to know the height, width, depth and breadth of the love of God and to know this love that surpasses knowledge so you and I can experience the fullness of God in our lives and be controlled by his Spirit.

Ephesians 3:16-18

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Bob George TeachingBob George shares from John 5, on the testimony of the Father concerning Jesus. Bob emphasized the life of the Holy Spirit living in a person, producing the fruit of the Spirit. That ultimately is the work Jesus came to do. One characteristic of the Spirit is love (Galatians 5:22-23). Then he shares from 1 Corinthians 13, explaining how Jesus came to expose the pride in man, that he may humble himself, recognize his state of spiritual death, and come to walk in the newness of life, with the Spirit of God living in him. The opposite of love is not hate, but pride. As a born again person, Jesus is showing us today how to live in dependence on the Holy Spirit of God. He is the vine and we are the branches. We love because he first loved us. Allow the love of he Holy Spirit to be produced in you and through you.

His father came to Jesus begging him to heal his son, having heard all that Jesus did, knowing of his healing power. In John 5, we read about a man who was disabled for 38 years, in a state of self pity, and was asked by Jesus if he wanted to get well.

Bob explains the more important reason Jesus came. He came to heal the person, spiritual healing, as of utmost importance. Even in today’s world, so many people are infatuated with signs and wonders and healing. Do you want to get well or would you rather remain in your condition? Do you come to Jesus for signs and wonders or do you come to Jesus by faith in what he accomplished for you at the cross? He came to rise again from the dead in order to give new spiritual life to you. Do you recognize your state of spiritual death? Do you know that the only available life for you is in Jesus Christ? He reminds u again of how we would respond to truth when we were first lost in sin. Did we all accept the message upon first hearing? Some did. Others did not. So why do we not share? Sometimes we look to our insecurities, perceived lack of abilities in sharing truth, or even simply our fear of man in what they might think. Bob then shares some practical advice, from personal life experiences of God’s work in him, and finishes by sharing again what the gospel really is.
