Go Beyond The Cross

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P32 (01-21-19)

Synopsis

As we read in Romans 8, there is life in the Spirit. Formerly, the mind of the lost person was hostile to God. We do not naturally think of ourselves as hostile to God, but we are. The law is set against us and so we would rather plead ignorance. Then we can at least plead ignorance. But if we are properly trained by the law to lead us to Christ, then the law served its purpose to convince us that we are dead and in need of life.

We used to live according to the flesh, when we were lost, because that is all we had. But then when we were born again, the Spirit of God came to indwell us. We were set free from the law of sin and death because in our weak state we were never able to live up to the demands of the law. The Spirit of life came to live in us to produce love in and through us, as we learn to trust God.

But how many people have understood what it means to walk in accordance with the Spirit. Jesus told … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Victory Over Depression - Book

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P496 (12-06-19)

Synopsis

As we live in our present bodies, in this sin-indwelling flesh, none of us are beyond falling into old sinful patterns. Yes, we, who are in Christ, live under the grace of God, but we never want to take advantage of God’s grace and live in sin for which Christ has set us free. So Paul addresses the church in Corinth, for the third time now, and is grieved and humbled to go over these same matters again. He provides firm correction, as we read in 1 Corinthians, about a man who has his father’s wife. The Corinthian church was boasting and should be grieved. The church listened to Paul’s instruction, and the man was put out of fellowship with the church, to be handed over to Satan so his flesh will be destroyed. We read in 2 Corinthians that the discipline of the many was sufficient, and the man went out of his way to clear himself of this matter, having true godly sorrow over sin. The church was then instructed to go out of their way to show their love to him so he is not overcome with … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P10 (11-11-19)

Synopsis

We are now starting Romans 2. Bob recaps what he talked about last week, that he is not ashamed of the gospel, and neither should we, who are in Christ Jesus. Paul proclaims this gospel in Christ Jesus to the Roman empire with all its pomp and prestige, with its great army and as the leader of the known world. He addressed the sin of homosexuality, and pointed out that unlike other sin, people are taunting it. The root attitude of all sin is the attitude of “I do not need God” and “I will do it my way”. When a society of people decide for themselves right from wrong, with a government that forms such attitudes, they silence and eventually persecute the church, the people of God.

Now, Paul addresses first the Gentile, the most heathen nation on the face of the earth. Then he addresses the Jews. Both the Jew and the Gentile are both born in sin, dead spiritually. The Gentiles, who never had the law, are by nature doing things deserving of death. The Jews, who had the law, are boasting how self righteous they are, and … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is The Gospel

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P7 (11-04-19)

Synopsis

Are you ashamed of the gospel? There is no need to be ashamed. Why? It is the power of God unto salvation of all men. The gospel of righteousness in Christ Jesus is the only way man is to to be saved from God’s wrath. The righteousness of God has now been revealed. Paul also describes this wrath of God that is being revealed. Follow along in Romans 1:18-27, as Bob continues sharing from the book of Romans.

Bob shares also from Genesis 2, the origin of this wrath of God against sin. He explains how sin entered this world and what happened to the first created human beings on earth, of Adam and Eve in the garden, and the consequence of death to all men because of sin. He explains how the root of sin is the suppression of truth. Man suppresses truth in their unrighteousness and wickedness. From Romans, we come to understand this futile thinking of man that leads to greater and greater depravity. Man is born dead to God, born alive to this world but dead to God.

Their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Want to Want to

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 20 (05-14-19)

Bob continues sharing from John 4 and John 5. In John 4, we read about Jesus healing a Father’s son. His father came to Jesus begging him to heal his son, having heard all that Jesus did, knowing of his healing power. In John 5, we read about a man who was disabled for 38 years, in a state of self pity, and was asked by Jesus if he wanted to get well.

Bob explains the more important reason Jesus came. He came to heal the person, spiritual healing, as of utmost importance. Even in today’s world, so many people are infatuated with signs and wonders and healing. Do you want to get well or would you rather remain in your condition? Do you come to Jesus for signs and wonders or do you come to Jesus by faith in what he accomplished for you at the cross? He came to rise again from the dead in order to give new spiritual life to you. Do you recognize your state of spiritual death? Do you know that the only available life for you is in Jesus Christ? Are you in Christ … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Seek His Righteousness

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 15 (05-01-19)

Bob George shares from his heart, out of the depth of God’s love for him, to others. God truly lives in you and through you as you let him. Love bubbles out as you get to know the depths of God’s love for you. A simple thank you letter to your pastor of a church when you were young, or giving out a gospel tract to a neighbor, or sitting down and listening to a co-worker’s brokenness and struggles of life are all examples of God living His life through you. When you read the gospel of John concerning Jesus encounter with a woman at the well, what thoughts come to your mind? Does God have a purpose and plan for your life? Are you willing to finish the work God has assigned you to do? Do you realize that if you let Him, He will use you to reach the deepest need of the human heart, to know God and His Son Jesus Christ.

Bob shares again the story of Jesus encounter with a Samaritan woman at the well. As he shares, he recalls experiences in his life to explain … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
