All of us struggle with all kinds of things in this fallen flesh of ours. It is good to know the mercy and grace of God. No matter what you are going through, there is hope in God. What a blessing it is when you have someone to talk to, who has been through what you are going through, and has learned to overcome the flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit, having had his mind renewed with truth.

Whether you are struggling with depression or in the process of going through a divorce, there is practical wisdom in Christ to deal with these struggles. The apostle Paul addressed some issues in regard to divorce in terms of the grace of God, under the New Covenant that we live under now. Yes, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. So often believers have not come to understand that they do not live under the law any more. Bob answers several questions from radio callers on the original People to People radio that was on the air for over 30 years. Andy asked about what day believers should celebrate Christmas for he heard that that date was really the birthday of a pagan god and Christmas has pagan origins. Bob answered that the date is not important for you are not celebrating a date but the birth of Christ. Bob’s advice is to not get involved in disputable issues.

Julie called to ask Bob about his viewpoint on living with someone outside of marriage. Julie was rationalizing her sin of fornication, specifically called out in scripture as sinful behavior. We should never get to the point of calling something good that is bad, calling something other than what God calls it, which is sin. We may not be able to carry it out and that is why Christ came to dwell in you by His Spirit. He offers real answers to real problems with truth from God’s word. The first caller, Niles, is a father with six children, struggling in his marriage. Bob asked several questions to help him discern whether his wife is a born again believer. He gave practical advice in either case. If she is not born again, then he is unequally yoked and she does not have the ability to discern the things of God nor would she be inclined to do so. But, if both are believers, then as the leader of the home, he can approach his wife and appeal to her to study the scriptures together to get God’s wisdom, to ask God what he thinks about the subject of contention.
