Synopsis

Questions that come up quite frequently are questions in regard to tithing and various passages in the Old Testament. Questions like, “How does that passage apply to me today?” It doesn’t. The most prevalent question is in regard to tithing. “Am I robbing God when I do not tithe?” Absolutely not. If a person understood the New Covenant they are living under today, they would not need to ask such questions, for the answer would be very clear. These questions can easily be answered from the scriptures themselves, and anyone who has the Spirit of God living in Him, would then be able to discern the truth on these things.

First of all, to get a grasp of what the New Covenant is we live under today, the book of Hebrews is a book strongly encouraged that you read. There you will discover that the New Covenant replaced the Old Covenant. Synopsis

There is one thing in Matthew that Jesus emphasized more than anything else. He said to not let any man deceive you? Are you growing in discernment? Have you discerned, first of all, that you are a child of God. One way to know that is to be intellectually honest with yourself, and ask, “What are the attitudes of my heart?”, “What are the motives of my heart?”, “Why did I come to Christ?”, or “What did I believe when I came to Christ?” We are told in scripture to test and see if you are in the faith. Did what I believe agree with what the gospel is as revealed in the scriptures? Or, do the things of God sound like foolishness to me?

If you truly have come to Christ, first for who He is, recognizing who you are, and who you were, and accepting Him into your life as your Lord and your Savior, and that has been done by faith, then you are a child of God, and if so, the Holy Spirit of God lives in you, and He will give you discernment on those things.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

What does God look at? Does He not look at the attitudes of the heart? Are you humble and teachable, open to listening to the living and active word of God, and allow that word to renew your mind with truth? Is there a dependence on the Holy Spirit, for Him to live His life in and through you? Or, are you leaning on your own understanding, having not known God or His ways? What is the motive of your heart? Men cannot weigh motives, but God can see right through any one of us. Do we do things to get accolades from men, to get money and power and fame? Do we do things to make a name for ourselves? Or do we do things, as Jesus did, to bring honor to the one who sent us? If you have ever seen someone come to know the Lord for the first time, and had the privilege to share about Jesus to them, family or friends, then you can tell about what joy and delight that is to see. Maybe you have never seen anyone in your family or even any friend come to the Lord, but you are sharing the word of God. We have to trust in God that when His word goes out, it does not return void. For some of you, that could be twenty or more years, and still you see no fruit of the labor. Nevertheless, we leave it in the hands of God. To God belong the results, in His timing. We do not need to force the message. It is a practical message, that man is dead and in need of life, with a message of great news, that Jesus provided that need of life as a gift to be received by faith, yet it can take time for people to process, some longer than others. As a child of God, we are all learning how to deal with various problems, whether habits like smoking, struggling with controlling in-laws in your marriage, or just those natural annoyances with rude people, or even unbearable suffering for the cause of Christ, or the natural suffering as we live in a fallen world, with an aging body or failing health. Listen as Bob George provides practical application to the common problems of life, applying wisdom with truth from the scriptures.

There are things that we can stop doing, and we do not even need the Holy Spirit to stop. You can be a non-believer to stop smoking, for example, with enough will power and desire to do so. But nevertheless, each person struggles in different ways, and with the Holy Spirit living in you, how much more can you set aside the deeds of the flesh, and renew your mind with truth, and participate in the divine nature God has given you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, where God dwells, so honor God with your body.

Jesus Brought in The New Covenant

Synopsis

All of us have a past, and we did things we are not proud of, some more than others, as far as the types of sins we did, that are particularly sensitive. Take the example of the apostle Paul, for example. He formerly persecuted Christians prior to his conversion, dragging mothers and fathers apart, putting them in prison, being quite a violent man. You also have men like Nikki Cruz of the true story documented, in The Cross and the Switchblade, with such a horrible past in gang-related crimes as a New York city gang leader, yet he responded to the gospel message and became a changed man. In both cases, they both now share their testimony, not in great detail, but enough for people to know he is not who he used to be. That could be true if you were a former lesbian or a child molester with prison time. That is what you used to be or do, but God got a hold of your heart and you are changed.
