Synopsis

It can be difficult to sort out truth from error. It is sort of like brainwashing. The more often you have heard something repeated, so often that you believed it to be true, it seems so much harder to be convinced that you were deceived. That is so true today in the world we live in with lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports. But it is also true in the religious world where people hold onto false concepts such as election and tithing for today. Indeed there is a correlation or overlap between the religious and secular worlds. Those who are deceived in the things of this world tend also to be the same ones deceived in regard to the spiritual realm as well. For the spiritual realm has practical implications. But Jesus also warned us in his word to let no man deceive you, and that in the last days, even the elect would be deceived if that were possible.

Synopsis

The renewing of our mind is what will be going on in us until the day we meet the Lord. He reminds us to keep our mind on whatever is good, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. As we tend to drift toward anxiety, getting our minds flooded with all kinds of thoughts on a daily basis, it is easy to get our emotions focused on all the bad things that might happen tomorrow or to drift into depressing thoughts of the mistakes we made yesterday. That is what emotions do. They predictably respond to whatever you are thinking, and emotions do not know whether those thoughts are real or not, are happening now, tomorrow or yesterday. They just respond to whatever you are thinking. So let us get our mind back on what is true, and casts all our cares on Christ Jesus, for He cares for you.

Jesus Loves You He Forgave All Your Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P41 (05-11-21)

Synopsis

Have you thought about what it means to apply God’s word, to obey His commands? What kind of commands were given to the Jews under an Old Covenant system. They had the ten commandments. How well did they do in obeying them? What about us, who never had the law to begin with, but we try to obey those same ten commandments? Do we do any better? Now, it is good that we desire to obey them, for the commandments are good, just and right. So here does the problem lie? With us.

Then Jesus comes along, being born into this world as a man, the second Adam. He says things to the Jews that make the ten commandments look simple in comparison. We think we are pretty good in comparison to Adolf Hitler, for example. ’I never murdered anyone”, you say. But Jesus says if you even just hate your brother, you already committed murder in your heart. If you lust after someone, then you are already committed adultery in your heart.

The Law of Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Word of God P40 (05-10-21)

Synopsis

The one thing people are looking for is unconditional love and acceptance. We cannot give that to someone else, not in the energy of our flesh. So much marital strife is because one spouse has unrealistic expectations on another, expecting their partner to provide what he or she is unable to provide. Yet, the Lord Jesus Christ commands us to love one another just as He loved us. So what is Jesus saying to us? Is He telling us to do something that is impossible for us to do? Yes and no, because it is not us doing it.

The key to the Christian life is a life of dependency, of trust in the one who loves you perfectly, and only God can do that, for God is love. Jesus, as the second Adam, modeled perfectly for us how we are to live. He limited Himself in the use of His divine attributes in a manner that we would have to relate to God, after having the Spirit placed in us at a new spiritual birth. Synopsis

People in all backgrounds are looking for purpose and meaning in life, whether you were brought up in a religious background or were in the habit of rejecting God, calling yourself an atheist. But there comes a time where you realize that this yearning in your heart for acceptance and love is not working. In that process, you hear a message about Christ or you pick up a bible and start reading. There you learn that Christ is the answer all along.

As you are getting your mind renewed, you may be confused for a while, because, if you came from a religious background, you are beginning to wonder about what you had been taught. Things just do not make sense. A pastor commits adultery. That in itself is alarming to you, when he is supposed to be a believer, and believers are not supposed to do that,and certainly not a pastor, whom you are relying on. Another pastor is preaching about tithing. And you are not even sure if that is what you are supposed to be doing or not. The church you grew up in never mentioned tithing. Truth Brings Division

Synopsis

In this world it seems things are constantly changing, and almost instantaneously. We have election fraud, a so-called C pandemic, an earthquake here and there, a tornado, or some other disaster, and a war about to break out in a moment’s notice. And we have a push for all people to just get along, regardless of whatever you believe, for that is just your opinion, as people would say. It is also so easy to get your mind, as an American, to spend all your energy and time to restore America. And to do that, people can forget their purpose as an ambassador for Christ, to represent God in a foreign land, to proclaim the gospel without compromise.

Now, if we study our bible, Jesus tells us ahead of time what we can expect, and to not be alarmed, or afraid, when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, for the end is not right away. So, it is so easy for us to lose sight of what God has commanded us to do, to love one another even as He loved us.
