Jesus Makes us Ministers of the New

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P23 (07-14-21)

Synopsis

It is so important to understand what God Himself says is the gospel that saves. In 1 Corinthians 15, we read that it is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Nothing else. There is no baptism, church attendance, speaking in tongues, going to a confessional booth, seven sacraments, quoting 1 John 1:9 to keep yourself in fellowship, saved. Those latter things are things taught by the traditions of men. The word of God does not say such things. Your confidence in the gospel must be in what God Himself says it is, and that you have allowed the Holy spirit to reveal that truth to you. Your confidence must not be in the denominational persuasions of men, or what any pastor, priest or man says, for they could be teaching error.

So what did Jesus accomplish by his death on a cross? What did Jesus say after he gave up his spirit, after shedding his blood on a cross? It is finished. What is finished? Did not the author of Hebrews tell us that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin? Yes, … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

We Have The Mind of Christ Jesus

Classic Christianity – Christmas P1 (12-21-20)

Synopsis

In this world, we can begin to see terrible events unfold. We can certainly see clearly this conflict between good and evil. The degree of that will depend, to some extent, what exposure you have to sources of information concerning current world events, for there is also so much fake news and misinformation.

Nevertheless, we tend to see these horrible things happening as something unusual, yet the Lord tells us that evildoers will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. We tend to forget what the Lord has told us, and can let ourselves be overcome with fear. But God tells us to keep our focus on Him, to continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of. Of all people, we, as children of God, should hold out hope. We should testify of the hope we have within us. We should be full of joy and peace, as we allow God, who is living in us, to bear that fruit in our lives.

But we all need encouragement. We are instructed to meet with like-minded believers, and all the more so, as we see the time of the … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P548 (06-26-20)

Synopsis

Today’s callers asked for help in regard to marriage issues and even about how to quit smoking. A lady called on behalf of her older sister who is seeing another man. Another person asked for clarification on a passage of scripture in regards to a passage in regard to adultery and marriage in Matthew 18:8-10. A person called about clarification on a passage of scripture, in Colossians 1:21-23, that seemed to indicate you could lose your salvation, even though he knows you cannot. Then there was this question that you still her quite often today, “Is a Catholic a Christian?”

Many of the questions these callers asked can easily be answered when, first of all you have the Spirit of God living in you, and you know the difference between the old covenant of sin and death, before the cross, and the new covenant of grace, after the cross, that we are under today. So when Jesus is saying things in the gospel of Mathew, Mark, Luke or John, he is saying things to people living under an old covenant, and the new has not yet come.

Another common way … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Sin of The World is Unbelief in Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P541 (06-04-20)

Synopsis

People have often called into the radio program to ask for more clarity on scripture passages they find difficult to understand. One common one question asked is what about “falling away” and “not being brought back to repentance“ and this “expectation of raging fire” in Hebrews 6:6? The common mistake people do is not read the book of Hebrews all the way through several times over, and then asking the Spirit of God to reveal the meaning of it to you. They tend to focus on one verse out of its entire context, and think of all kinda of fearful thoughts. What is that sin? Did I commit it? So Bob highlights some other passages that gives greater to clarity the scripture in question.

In addition to Hebrews 6:6, look also at Hebrews 9:22, Hebrews 10:11-12, Hebrews 10:17-18 and Hebrews 10:26-29. When you read through those passages, you will see that what the writer of Hebrews is talking about is the sin of unbelief in Jesus, where a religious Jew is sinning against the knowledge of the truth, who wants to go back to the day of atonement to get … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Go Beyond The Cross

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P32 (01-21-19)

Synopsis

As we read in Romans 8, there is life in the Spirit. Formerly, the mind of the lost person was hostile to God. We do not naturally think of ourselves as hostile to God, but we are. The law is set against us and so we would rather plead ignorance. Then we can at least plead ignorance. But if we are properly trained by the law to lead us to Christ, then the law served its purpose to convince us that we are dead and in need of life.

We used to live according to the flesh, when we were lost, because that is all we had. But then when we were born again, the Spirit of God came to indwell us. We were set free from the law of sin and death because in our weak state we were never able to live up to the demands of the law. The Spirit of life came to live in us to produce love in and through us, as we learn to trust God.

But how many people have understood what it means to walk in accordance with the Spirit. Jesus told … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
