As we grow in Christ, we start asking questions. That is what children do. But are they getting the right answers, the right nutrition to grow? It is fine if you are an infant to feed on the milk of the word, but you need to start moving on towards eating meat when the time is right. So where do you get your convictions formed? Do you believe something because your pastor says it is true or because that is what my denomination taught me since I was a child? How do you know it is true? Recall that the apostle Paul commended the people of Berea for diligently studying the scriptures to see if what he said was so.

Let us look at the teaching that is so prevalent in protestant churches about tithing being for today, and that you start giving ten percent, as so many pastors teach. Is that true for today? What conviction do you have that the scriptures are the word of God, are inerrant, and are applicable today as it was over 2000 years ago? Are the problems of man we face today in our lives, anxiety and depression, any different than back then, since the fall of mankind? Yes, we may have advanced technology that can cause more devastating destruction, but deep down is not the root cause of all the problems of man rely inside the heart of man? Do you think that God had a solution to our problems only in today’s world through psychology or philosophy, or that we have become so sophisticated, that we can solve our problems through science and psychology and relegate God to just our initial salvation, such as a guarantee of a new life after we die, but then He just leaves us alone for us to figure out and solve our problems on our own?

Oftentimes people grow up with religion and reject the reality of Christ Jesus. They associate Christ with things spoken in context of preachers speaking things that are simply not true. Instead of checking out what is being said as being true or not, we see no reality in it, so we reject the religion, but sadly we also reject Christ, whom we associate with in our minds. But one day, we see the reality of a changed life in someone else, who has the Spirit of God living in him. So we ask, what is it in him that is different? What kind of life does he have that I do not? Then you hear the practical wisdom he shares from God’s word. Your heart is moved. You see the practical wisdom and how people are able to walk in joy and peace. People have come to Christ that way. Christ in you was a light that shined in a dark world, but truth was made known concerning Christ, of the gospel that saves, and he believed and put His faith in Christ.

What impact does the empty tomb have on your life? Well, let us ponder over how it impacted the lives of the apostles, who were eyewitnesses, who walked and talked with Jesus and who saw the resurrected Jesus. When you think that all but one of the apostles died a martyr’s death, and all faced intense persecution, would it make sense to believe they would be willing to go through the things they did for a lie? Consider also the contrast before the day of Pentecost and after Pentecost into the behavior of the disciples. First, what were they like before Pentecost? People of all walks of life have much in common. We are human, born dead spiritually and in need of new life. And when we come to new life in Christ Jesus, we need to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We at first feed on just the milk of the word until such a time we are ready for solid food. We learn about the unconditional love of God, that we are not under law, but under grace, that we live under a New Covenant now. We learn the foundational truth of the totality of the cross, our new identity as a child of God, of being made complete in Christ, that we are not under law but under grace, that we live under a New Covenant not an Old Covenant. We learn what walking under grace means. We learn what it means to have our minds renewed.

So listen as Bob George explains these foundational truths, about what baptism is, spiritual baptism that saves, not that of a physical baptism, that only removes dirt from the body. Synopsis

There are things that are taught in religion or major denominations that are just not in accordance with what is true. We believe it because it was taught to us, frequently enough that we do not even think to ponder over whether it is really true or not. A very good example of this is the false practice of confessing your sins before taking the Lord’s supper so as to not be taking the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner. Another example is this teaching that there is an age of accountability for salvation, that if you are under a certain age then you are not accountable to God for sin. That kind of question is in the same category as asking the question, “What about the heathen that has never heard?” And another question that often comes up is in regard to this supposed movie projection in heaven that presumably everyone’s sins will be projected so that all people and even angels will see. That simply is not true.
