Jesus Forgave You Once For All Sins

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P585 (11-05-20)

Synopsis

As people grow in Christ, you will have questions. Someone might ask, “I thought you would stop sinning once you are saved. Am I not saved then, since I am still sinning?” I think if you thought that, you will find out very quickly that that cannot be true, that you stop sinning. You will begin to sin less, but none of us will ever walk in complete faith in God, and that is the essence of sin. Anything that does not come from faith is sin.

So it goes back to understanding what Jesus accomplished at the cross, when he shed his blood once and for all, and about our fallen nature we inherited in Adam, and coming alive in Christ Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, he took away forever our sins, and the sins of the entire world, from the eyes of God. He took the full weight of death required for all sin. That is why when we are in Christ, there is no longer any condemnation for sin. If you are not in Christ, that means you remain dead in your sins because you failed to come to Christ to receive life.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is God in the Flesh and Forgave Us

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P14 (11-03-20)

Synopsis

Jesus came to give us understanding of ourselves, that we are dead and in need of life. He showed us what true living is, what man was designed to look when he had the Spirit of God living in him. He did this by living like us, as a man, emptying himself of His divineatrobuutes, so that we, who are not God may know what it looks like. He did so that we might recognize our own righteousness and want His. He did this so that once the holy Spirit is given to men, they too can live in the same way he did. We do not do this imitating His action but by imitating His faith, His total dependence upon His Father. Jesus said He did nothing on His own initiative, but only did what He saw His Father doing and He did what His Father told Him to say and how to say it.

Now, being a human being with a human spirit, dead to God but alive to this world, Jesus explained things in terms we could understand. He explained spiritual truth in physical terms we could understand.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

A Closer Look at Jesus Christ - Study

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P1 (10-05-20)

Synopsis

If your house had a faulty foundation, the house would collapse. So also is it true, that as a Christian or a religious person, if you do not have a firm foundation in what truth is, the person of Jesus Christ, you too will fall with a great crash. So, who is this person of Jesus Christ? Many religious people, and even non-religious people, know something about him, that he influenced history, changed men and nations. You read about Jesus whenever you see A.D. written on a calendar, which means, “the day of our Lord”. Hardly an American has not heard or sung a Christmas carol during the Christmas season, such as “Emmanuel, God with us”, but do you know the significance of what that means? Have you thought about the words to that song, and where they came from?

So why is it important to know about Jesus Christ? What does he have to say about himself? Where did he come from? If he had such an influence on men and nations, where would I look to find out more about him? Let us open up the scriptures, the words written through men who were eyewitnesses of the time that Jesus walked on this earth and who wrote down what he said.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God Jesus is Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P72 (09-30-20)

Synopsis

As you ponder over the scriptures, the many things Jesus told us, and the writings of the apostles, who explain these things to us, our minds are renewed with truth as the Spirit reveals truth to us about who we are, about our flesh, and about who God is. Again, we love because God first loved us. We respond to that truth and those attitudes of heart in Christ Jesus are formed in us. Those attitudes of heart show up in our love for one another. That triplicate again of faith, hope and love is visible in us through the love of God worked in us and through us. Christ in us is our hope of glory. We place our faith, our dependency upon Christ, continually walking in that faith in Christ alone.

We come to realize that when Jesus walked on this earth, emptying himself of his divine attributes, while never ceasing to be God, showed us what it is like to live as a man and to live as He lived. How did Jesus live? In total dependency on His Father. So, He tells us, “as I have loved you, so you must love one another.”… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Law of Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P71 (09-29-20)

Synopsis

Love is the indicator as to whether you are in Christ Jesus or not. When we are born, we are born without the Spirit of God living in us. God is love and love comes from God. God initiates His love to us and we respond to that love. We come to understand His love through the Spirit who reveals to us God through His Son Jesus Christ. We realize what Jesus came to do for us, to die on a cross to take away the sins of the world, in order to rise again, so His life can be given to us. God is received by faith.

Without God, the only thing we had was a spirit that was empty, longing to be filled with meaning and purpose. That is why man asks questions like, “Why am I here?” “Why do I feel empty inside?”, “Where will I go when I die”, or “How can I love and be loved?” Knowing that we sin, we are longing for unconditional love and acceptance but we have misplaced dependencies and unrealistic expectations. We either ignore God even there, are passively indifferent, or rebellious or we sincerely try to reach out to God, and hope that God loves us by what we do.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Gave Us New Commands of Belief and Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P70 (09-28-20)

Synopsis

The flesh wants its own way. The flesh wants its own parking space. Flesh wants justice all the time, especially if it relates to us. So, we are not like God. God is perfect love. It is when we come to know the love of God, and are recipients of His love, that we see a new way to live as God intended us to live. When we come to know God, we are set apart to serve one another in love, in the same way we received unconditional love and acceptance from Him.

We must come to understand the command that Jesus has for us, to love one another. The first thing we must come to grips with is that I cannot do that but I am indwelt with the one who can. We have that privilege in participating in the divine nature that lives in us and to participate in that love. We do not have to go get it. It is there. It is just if I am going to yield to the flesh that wants to be served or yield to the Spirit that wants to serve and to reach out to those in love that we have been recipients of.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
